Receta Bacon Wrapped Pimento Cheese Poppers
by Karly Campbell | Buns In My Oven

These little appetizers are perfect for a sweet and spicy game day snack! Big thanks to Callie’s Charleston Biscuits for providing me products with which to create this post!

Oh my word, you guys. I don’t even know where to start with these spicy, sweet, creamy, crunchy little bites of heaven.

Football food? Yes. Snack food? Totally. Lunch? Don’t mind if I do. Dessert? I don’t see why not.

Basically, you’re going to want to eat these at all times of the day for every occasion possible! These are one of the tastiest little things I’ve made in awhile!

The roasted jalapeno poppers are filled with a fiery pimento cheese from Callie’s Charleston Biscuits. The cheese is so good! Just the right amount of spice for spreading on a cracker and having a little snack.

Callie’s Charleston Biscuits also makes (surprise!) biscuits and holy heck. I got the cheddar and chive biscuits and the country ham biscuits. I’m sort of obsessed with the biscuits. They’re handmade from scratch and they taste like they came straight from my Southern grandma’s kitchen. Only better. Don’t tell my grandma I said that, though. They make seven varieties of biscuits and I’d like to try them all! I should probably mention that these biscuits and the cheese spreads are pricier than what you’d find in your supermarket. I’d also like to mention that they totally blow supermarket biscuits right out of the water. You can just taste all of the buttery love that goes in to these recipes!

Back to the poppers…I suggest that you make these immediately. I absolutely loved the recipe with Callie’s Fiery Pimento Cheese. The jalapenos aren’t all that spicy since the insides are scraped out, so the spicy cheese added the perfect kick. I really think it’s the sprinkling of brown sugar on the bacon that makes these outrageous though. Something about that spicy sweet combination just speaks to my heart.

If you really must make these immediately and don’t have to time to wait for your shipment of cheese, you can try your hand at making your own with this pimento cheese recipe.

Ingredients:

Directions:

Place a cooling rack on a large cookie sheet and preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Wearing disposable gloves, slice each jalapeno in half, lengthwise. Use a spoon to scrape out the seeds and membranes.

Use a spoon to fill the insides of each jalapeno with as much of the piamento cheese as will fit, probably around 1 teaspoon depending on the size of your peppers.

Cut each slice of bacon into three equally sized pieces. Wrap one piece of the cut bacon around the jalapenos, cut side down to hold the bacon in place.

Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the bacon.

Place the jalapenos on the prepared pan and bake for 20 minutes or until the bacon is crisped to your liking.

Serve immediately.

Don’t miss a post!
