Baked Donuts!

So once in a while I find myself craving a donut. And while we have some great grocery store bakeries in town, we no longer have a true “bakery”–the kind that make the really awesome donuts, that are all fried and lathered in frosting and toppings. I guess this is a good thing, since I can’t get one of those donuts at every whim, I should be losing weight, right?!?

So I’ve kindda gotten use to the cake variety and have started to make my own after finding a doughnut pan to bake them in at King Arthur Flour. These are so fun to make and my sons love dipping them in their own toppings. Being that they are 17 and 19, I’m sure “young” ones would really love these...

Baked Donuts!

Ingredients:

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder and alt. In another bowl, beat egg to blend with milk, 1/4 cup melted butter and vanilla. Add flour mixture and stir just enough to moisten. Spoon into well-greased tin (I used one that I ordered from King Arthur Flour).

Bake until golden, about 8 minutes. Turn out onto a baking rack and frost with your favorite frosting recipe and top with anything you like!
