%20in%20Suffield,%20Alberta%20which%20is%20where%20I%20tasted%20curry%20for%20the%20very%20first%20time%20and%20fell%20in%20love.%20My%20friend%20Cathy%20Giles,%20who%20was%20a%20Liverpudlian,%20made%20me%20my%20very%20first%20curry%20and%20it%20was%20pure%20heaven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShe%20added%20a%20whole%20bottle%20of%20curry%20powder,%20so%20it%20was%20a%20bit%20spicy,%20but%20again%20.%20.%20.%20it%20was%20lovely.%20I%20find%20at%20my%20advancing%20age%20though,%20and%20with%20a%20husband%20in%20his%2070's%20we%20can't%20handle%20too%20spicy%20these%20days,%20so%20you'll%20find%20that%20our%20curry%20is%20always%20on%20the%20milder%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOver%20here%20in%20the%20UK,%20Curry%20is%20like%20a%20National%20Dish.%20Kind%20of%20a%20hangover%20from%20the%20British%20colonial%20days%20in%20India%20I%20guess.%20I%20reckon%20there%20are%20as%20many%20curry%20houses%20over%20here%20as%20there%20are%20fish%20and%20chip%20shops%20and%20chips%20with%20curry%20sauce%20ladles%20over%20are%20a%20very%20popular%20dish%20up%20North.%20Most%20Friday%20nights%20out%20with%20the%20guys%20or%20gals%20end%20up%20in%20a%20curry%20house%20.%20.%20.%20no%20surprise%20there.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think%20curry%20is%20something%20that%20you%20either%20love%20or%20you%20hate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20just%20happen%20to%20love%20it.%20Just%20the%20smell%20of%20it%20cooking%20gets%20my%20tastebuds%20tingling%20.%20.%20.%20but%20I%20know%20other%20people%20that%20get%20a%20whiff%20of%20it%20and%20want%20to%20gag%20and%20run%20for%20the%20hills.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20guess%20it's%20all%20a%20matter%20of%20taste,%20and%20.%20.%20.%20as%20my%20mother%20always%20said,%20there's%20no%20accounting%20for%20some%20people's%20tastes%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20rather%20lazy%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20curries%20though,%20especially%20when%20I%20only%20have%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20time%20to%20throw%20a%20quick%20dinner%20together%20during%20my%20lunch%20break.%20This%20is%20one%20of%20my%20quick,%20cheap%20and%20cheerful%20dinners.%20A%20bit%20of%20pilau%20rice,%20some%20naan%20(To%20sop%20up%20all%20that%20lovely%20sauce),%20an%20onion%20bhajis%20or%20two%20or%20three%20.%20.%20.%20some%20samosas,%20and%20we%20are%20in%20curry%20house%20heaven!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E(Grrr%20.%20.%20.%20just%20noticed%20I%20forgot%20to%20scatter%20on%20the%20coriander%20before%20I%20took%20these%20pictures,%20but%20.%20.%20.%20I'm%20sure%20you'll%20forgive%20me%20won't%20you?)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Chicken%20Curry%20in%20a%20Hurry*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%202%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20beats%20anything%20that%20comes%20out%20of%20a%20jar%20hands%20down.%20It's%20so%20easy%20and%20quick%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20TBS%20chopped%20coriander%20leaves%20to%20garnish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20large%20skillet.%20Add%20the%20onions,%20garlic,%20and%20ginger.%20Cook%20for%20about%205%20minutes%20without%20colouring.%20Stir%20in%20the%20spices,%20bay%20leaves%20and%20nuts.%20Cook%20for%203%20minutes,%20until%20very%20fragrant,%20stirring%20constantly.%20Add%20the%20chicken%20chunks,%20and%20stir%20around%20and%20cook%20for%20several%20minutes,%20until%20beginning%20to%20brown%20a%20bit.%20Pour%20on%20the%20boiling%20water,%20along%20with%20the%20coconut%20cream.%20Season%20to%20taste%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper.%20Leave%20to%20simmer%20for%2015%20to%2020%20minutes%20until%20the%20chicken%20is%20quite%20tender.%20Mix%20the%20yoghurt%20and%20cream%20together%20and%20whisk%20into%20the%20chicken.%20Heat%20gently%20without%20allowing%20it%20to%20boil.%20It%20will%20curdle%20if%20it%20boils.%20Scatter%20over%20the%20chopped%20coriander%20and%20then%20serve%20immediately%20with%20some%20pilau%20rice%20and%20or%20naan%20bread.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
