%20while%20supervising%20the%20kiddos%20(trying%20to%20keep%20them%20out%20of%20the%20piles%20of%20dirt%20I%20was%20sweeping%20up)%20and%20then%20carrying%20boxes%20labelled%20for%20our%20garage%20sale%20up%20from%20the%20basement.(Boy,%20would%20have%20this%20messed%20up%20my%20bride's%20french%20manicure)%20I%20fully%20intended%20to%20have%20a%20beautiful%20table%20set%20for%20dinner%20tonight,%20complete%20with%20a%20decadent%20chocolate%20dessert%20when%20my%20husband%20arrived%20home,%20bearing%20a%20bottle%20of%20my%20favorite%20wine%20and%20a%20bouquet%20of%20roses.%20However,%20by%20the%20time%20that%20I%20carried%20up%20the%20last%20box%20from%20the%20basement,%20showered%20and%20scrubbed%20the%20garbage%20scent%20off%20of%20my%20hands,%20and%20slipped%20into%20a%20dress,%20it%20was%20already%20after%206%20pm.%20I%20still%20needed%20to%20run%20to%20the%20store%20for%20a%20forgotten%20ingredient%20or%20two%20and%20(ooops!)%20a%20card%20for%20my%20husband.%20As%20I%20tried%20to%20find%20the%20perfect%20card%20to%20convey%20just%20how%20I%20feel%20about%20my%20sweetheart,%20the%20girls%20pulled%20out%20every%20musical%20card%20from%20the%20shelves,%20yelling,%20%22Look%20at%20this%20one%20mommy!%20Daddy%20would%20love%20this%20one.%22%20I%20was%20getting%20pretty%20frustrated%20when%20my%20husband%20called%20to%20ask%20where%20we%20were%20and%20if%20he%20should%20start%20the%20grill.%20%22YES!%22%20I%20answered.%20%22We're%20on%20our%20way!%22.%20My%20how%20life%20has%20changed...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETonight,%20our%20daughters%20decorated%20the%20table%20as%20I%20rubbed%20the%20steaks%20and%20my%20husband%20tended%20to%20the%20coals.%20I%20have%20to%20say,%20despite%20the%20hurried%20preparation,%20this%20dinner%20was%20absolutely%20delicious!%20The%20rub%20was%20surprisingly%20subtle%20on%20the%20grilled%20steaks,%20but%20was%20perfectly%20complimented%20by%20the%20shallot%20butter%20sauce.%20This%20butter%20sauce%20was%20out%20of%20this%20world!%20We%20couldn't%20stop%20eating%20steak!%20Even%20my%20daughters%20loved%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20this%20rub%20recipe%20from%20the%20latest%20issue%20of%20Better%20Homes%20and%20Gardens%20magazine.%20I%20used%20chili%20powder,%20ancho%20chili%20powder,%20smoked%20paprika,%20pepper,%20and%20sugar%20crystals.%20I%20didn't%20have%20any%20Sugar%20in%20the%20Raw%20as%20called%20for,%20so%20I%20improvised%20and%20used%20decorative%20crystal%20sugar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20brushed%202%20thick%20boneless%20ribeye%20steaks%20with%20a%20little%20oil%20and%20sprinkled%20them%20with%20kosher%20salt%20before%20applying%201/2%20tablespoon%20of%20the%20rub%20to%20each%20side%20of%20the%20steak.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPat%20it%20in%20with%20your%20fingertips.%20This%20is%20where%20I%20turned%20the%20steaks%20over%20to%20my%20husband%20for%20grilling%20and%20went%20about%20making%20the%20butter%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20original%20recipe%20is%20called%20Cowboy%20Steak%20with%20Whiskey%20Butter%20Sauce.%20I%20didn't%20have%203of%20the%20ingredients%20(including%20whiskey)%20or%203%20hours%20to%20make%20and%20chill%20a%20butter%20log.%20I%20decided%20to%20come%20up%20with%20my%20own%20sauce,%20loosely%20based%20on%20the%20ingredients%20suggested%20in%20the%20original%20recipe.%20Here's%20what%20I%20did:%20I%20melted%20a%20stick%20of%20butter%20in%20a%20saucepan,%20then%20tossed%20in%20a%20diced%20shallot.%20I%20sauteed%20the%20shallot%20until%20brown%20and%20a%20little%20crispy,%20then%20stirred%20in%20some%20Worcestershire%20sauce,%20Dijon%20mustard,%20and%20a%20little%20salt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20steaks%20came%20off%20of%20the%20grill,%20I%20sliced%20them%20and%20topped%20with%20the%20shallot-butter%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20ridiculously%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECowboy%20Steaks%20adapted%20from%20Better%20Homes%20and%20Gardens%20magazine%20original%20recipe%20found%20HERE%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes:%204%20servings%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep:%2020%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrill:%2010%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStand:%2025%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20For%20rub,%20in%20bowl%20combine%20chile%20powders,%20paprika,%20peppers,%20and%20sugar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Prepare%20grill%20for%20direct%20cooking%20over%20low%20heat%20(about%20300%20degrees%20F).%20Meanwhile,%20let%20meat%20come%20to%20room%20temperature%20about%2020%20minutes%20before%20grilling.%20Pat%20meat%20with%20paper%20towels%20to%20remove%20excess%20moisture.%20Just%20before%20grilling,%20brush%20steaks%20with%20oil.%20Sprinkle%20about%201%20Tbsp.%20of%20rub%20and%20a%20little%20salt%20on%20each%20steak;%20pat%20in%20with%20fingers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Place%20steaks%20directly%20over%20medium-high%20heat%20for%20about%205%20minutes.%20Turn%20and%20grill%205%20more%20minutes%20for%20medium-rare%20doneness.%20Remove%20from%20grill.%20Let%20rest%20at%20least%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Top%20hot%20steaks%20with%20Shallot%20Butter%20Sauce.%20To%20serve,%20slice%20steaks.%20Makes%204%2
