Sometime you may have had some Italian cookies and wondered about the piquant taste. They may have been pepper cookies which come from the far northern Italian border. The pepper does not make the cookies hot, just zippy.

    Patricia,
As far as I can ascertain they come from the far northern Italian border of Trieste.I believe the chocolate is just a variation of this cookie, and unfortunately I don't have a pic of them
P.S.The pepper does not make the cookies hot, just zippy.

I've spent in the Aosta area, but never saw this cookies. Do you know where they come from? They sound interesting as I think pepper in cookies really adds a lot of interest. We have a chocolate spice cookie with pepper that I love. Would like to know the background on these if you have it and maybe a pictures. Thanks
