  1. Melt the shortening in a large pan on the stove
  2. Cool
  3. Add the sugars, eggs, and molasses
  4. Beat well
  5. In a separate bowl, sift the dry ingredients together
  6. Add to the pan
  7. Mix well and chill for 3-4 hours or overnight
  8. Form into walnut-size balls
  9. Roll in the granulated sugar
  10. Place on greased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart
  11. Bake at 375 F for 8-10 minutes
