Roy Rogers Chicken And Dumplings

Ingredientes

  • 3 1/2 lb Chicken
  •     Water to cover
  • 1/2 x Onion
  •     Salt and pepper to taste
  •     Garlic pwdr
  • 1 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3 Tbsp. Vegetable shortening
  • 2/3 c. Lowfat milk (up to 3/4 c.)

Direcciones

  1. Place chicken in a large pot and almost cover with water. Add in onion half, salt and pepper and garlic pwdr. Bring to boil, reduce heat to simmer and cook, covered for 50 min, or possibly till chicken tests done. Remove from heat and pull chicken from pot. When cold sufficient to handle, remove skin and throw away. Remove meat and pull into serving pcs. Throw away chicken bones and onion from pot. Skim fat from the top of stock.
  2. Return chicken pcs to the pot of stock.
  3. Meanwhile, in a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, baking pwdr and salt.
  4. Cut in shortening, and sufficient lowfat milk so which batter is smooth but not too runny. Bring pot of chicken and stock to a simmer, then drop batter by spoonfuls into the warm liquid. Let cook 5 min, uncovered, then cover the pot and cook another 5-7 min, or possibly till dumplings test done. Serve broth, chicken and dumplings in soup bowls and season to taste.
