SILKY MUSTARD CHICKEN

This dish probably takes a while to cook, but is worth the effort.It may seem a bit too much effort cooking this dish,but when you are done and you serve it on top of a bed of hot steaming rice you'll have your family,friends and guests coming back for seconds.

Ingredientes

  • 600 gm boneless chicken cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 lime
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup mustard
  • 1 and half tsp mild curry powder
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 2 tbsp each grated ginger and garlic
  • 1 onion very finely chopped
  • 1 tsp each cumin and coriander powders
  • 1cup sweet plain yogurt(The yogurt should not be sour)
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander/flat leaf parsely for garnish

Direcciones

  1. Mix the chicken with the salt, turmeric, lime,curry powder and mustard and set aside for at least one hour.
  2. Heat the oil and add the ginger and garlic and onion and saute for five minutes.
  3. Add in the cumin-coriander powder with the chicken.
  4. On medium heat, keep cooking the chicken till all the water has evaporated and the chicken is well brown and sort of dry.This may take about 20-25 mins in total.
  5. Add in the yogurt with and simmer for 15 to 20 more minutes and serve hot with rice.If required add in just 1/4 to 1/2 cup warm water to the pan if the gravy seems too thick for your taste.This dish looks so silky and velvetty fresh and tastes amazing.
  6. Garnish with chopped coriander sprinkled all over.
  7. Serve hot with steaming rice.
