Receta Sweet Potato Dog Biscuits
by Midnight Baker

Sweet Potato Dog BiscuitsDon't forget your furbaby at Christmas! Easy to make dog biscuits your pooch will love!

Here's something else to do with leftover sweet potatoes!

Dogs really like sweet potatoes and what better than a homemade treat that includes them? You can also used canned if you wish. I just prefer fresh.

Uses leftover sweet potatoesAs always, any whole-grain flour will do. My dogs have no problems with wheat. If yours do, then just use a non-wheat-based flour. The thing here is to get a rollable dough; the flour doesn't matter.

I have a set of dog biscuit cutters because I make them all the time--I won't feed any store-bought treat after that scare--and often make them for gifts. You can use a glass too--dog doesn't care. It's just eye appeal for us!! Here's my set:

*Start with the lowest amount, add more if necessary

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet (about 10 x 15 or larger) with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, mix the sweet potatoes, oats and cornmeal. Add 3/4 cup of water and mix well. Let this sit for about 10 minutes.

Add only enough flour to make a rollable dough. Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead for about 1 minute.

Roll dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes (you can use a glass--the pooch doesn't care LOL).

Place on prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let the pan set in the oven until cool--this helps to dehydrate them for better storage.

Makes about 2 dozen--my yield when I used a "medium" bone-shaped dog biscuit cutter.
