Acerca de mí
I am currently raising four wonderful kids in a very fulfilling full time job. The benefits are tremendous. In my spare time I'm a writer, editor, and website developer. I've got a master's degree in English from Northern Illinois University, and a bachelor of science in special education. My interest in food began in 2007 when my oldest son was diagnosed with celiac disease at the tender age of 4. My recipes are generally organic, all natural, corn free, and kid-friendly. My favorite hobbies include reading, spending time with friends and family, trying new recipes, and cheering on my kids.
Influencias de Cocina
1. Grandma
My grandmother was a tremendous baker. Growing up we relished in holiday sweets eating at her house every year. Being gluten free was quite an adjustment for our family. I really missed Grandma's baking. I took many of her recipes and altered them over the years to develop healthy gluten free alternatives. Now we can enjoy family favorites without the gluten during the holiday season.
2. Mom (x2)
My mother has always loved to cook. Every night we had a home cooked meal in our house. I've taken some of those traditional meals and altered them to be gluten free. Over the years I've also added some of my own original recipes. Now my kids have family favorites that will remind them of mom when they are grown.
My mother-in-law is a farm house cook who has learned the art of stewing meat, roasting ham, and creating wonderful mixed vegetable dishes. I have learned some of her tricks and use them in our own family kitchen as well.
