Acerca de mí
My name is Rianne and I've had a lifelong love affair with all things sweet. In 2003, I left my job as an academic advisor to pursue my dream of becoming a pastry chef. I attended the San Diego Culinary Institute and loved every minute of it. I was lucky enough to train under Master Pastry Chef Bo Friberg and Chef Yves Fournier. I interned at Opera Patisserie and started working at Hans and Harry Bakery after graduating.
Unfortunately, my new career as a pastry chef was short-lived. I had to leave a few months after I got pregnant because I was having serious complications with my pregnancy. My son was born six weeks prematurely and it was then that I decided to put my career on hold to stay home with him.
While adjusting to being a stay-at-home mom, I continued to experiment in the kitchen. I also tried my hand at cake decorating and really liked it. I started making cakes for my friends and family. Eventually, through word-of-mouth, people started asking me to make cakes for them.
When my son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies in 2007, I stopped making cakes and focused on taking care of him. I spend almost an entire year learning how to cook and bake without using peanuts, seafood, eggs, soy, wheat or dairy. A year later, my son outgrew his wheat and dairy allergies, which made a huge difference in his food options, especially desserts.
Right now, I'm still experimenting in the kitchen and I'm slowly getting back into making desserts for friends and family. I started a food blog in 2008 so I can share recipes, ideas, stories and basically anything that has to do with my passion for making desserts.
