I'm a stay-at-home mom of 4 kids. The 3 oldest I homeschool, while the 4th is too young. Homeschooling is like any other joy, there are good days and bad, but the good out number the bad. I would not trade staying at home for anything. My husband is nurse at a local hospital.
Cooking is an every day event for me and I enjoy it. I love to experiment and try new things. I am currently trying to add more veggies and fruit to our menus for better health and weight loss.
My mom taught me the basics about how to cook which she learned from her mom. My grandmother is a traditional southern cook. Every thing beyond the basics I taught myself through experimentation, watching others, and books.
I like to learn how to cook things that people don't usually cook or consider old fashion-like jelly and jam, breads, and cheese. I think the ability to do these things is a dying art. They are time consuming and it is understandably easier to buy them from the grocery store. Several years ago I learned how to make cheese cakes just because everybody said they were hard to do. I like a challenge.
