Being raised in a family who centers all activities around food and eating, I've grown to appreciate this food phenomenon which has extended over into my adulthood. I'm totally obsessed with food.
From travels across Europe, Central/South America and Asia (still have yet to jet set off to the African continent & India, but luckily to have lived in cities with multi-ethnic diversity, I've had the good fortune to explore the exotic flavors from some regions in these parts of the world) and by eating throughout, I've begun a new personal journey to understand & test my palette.
By traveling, eating and cooking, I've come to recognize the essentials of each dish, and what makes it flavorful and unique. This obsession with eating--and eating well!--has challenged me to explore the importance of finding harmony in each dish by making good use of spices, herbs & great sauces to complement the core ingredient.
For example, why does mint work so well with lamb? I think the cool & freshness contained in Mint works surprisingly well with the gamy taste of lamb--and, the reason why it's nice to use a tart Granny Smith Apple in a Butternut Squash pureé soup is the balance between the tartness & the alkaline, which adds ideal harmony to the soup!
Discovering new dishes, new wines & new recipes have become the core of my daily routine! Can't wait to share it with you guys!
