Re: recipes

Maybe try a trail mix that you make by yourself. You can try some rice squares or chex mix like cereal, add pretzels (yes they can be salty), and maybe some nuts.

Okay here is a healthy alternative that he most likely will be able to have. Peanut Butter and an apple. I too am sugar sensitive and this has been approved on a diabetic diet. The amount may vary from child to adults however, I am allowed one tablespoon peanut butter to a whole apple. So maybe a 1/2 tablesoon with 1/2 apple for him.

Popcorn- Air popped. Very healthy and satisfying. Hope this helps!

You can make your own peanut butter. I am sensitive to sugar as well and can't seem to eat it so I make my own peanut butter. Basically you just get the peanuts in a shell and put them in a blender on puree until they turn into peanut butter. Then you can add honey or anything else to flavor it. I put it on saltines that don't have sugar or corn syrup in them and it's really good. Makes a good snack. This way the peanut butter is completely sugar and corn syrup free so no problems there.

I also make taco pizza. I make the crust so that it's sugar free. 2 1/2 c. flour, 2 3/4 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. salt, 3/4 to 1 c. water. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-25 min. I top it with hamburger that I added taco seasoning to (I do add cheese, but it could be left out) and lettuce, tomato , onion, (and I do add sour cream which has no sugar or corn syrup, but it can be left out too). You can reduce the recipe and make mini taco pizzas for snacks.

I also make ravioli using the same recipe for the dough as the pizza one. I cut the dough into squares and then add hamburger, cheese(which can be left out), and tomato sauce that I make myself so it has no sugar or corn syrup. Then bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes (cook time varies depending on what size you make the raviolis).
