Ice Cream Machine?...or NOT?

Foodessa
Foodessa 25 de Julio de 2010

After having made ice cream with either the electric beater or food processor...I have never quite had the real need for a big ice cream appliance in my kitchen.
This is not to say that maybe one day I may not purchase the attachment that goes with the mega powered help from the Kitchen Aids or Cuisinarts of the Foodie help community.

What are your thoughts on making ice cream?
Do you own or want to own an ice cream machine?
If you do, how really practical has it been for you?

Very much looking forward to your feedback ;o)

Flavourful ice cream wishes to all,
Claudia

Re: Ice Cream Machine?...or NOT?

My children gave me a KitchenAid 600 series for my birthday and I just bought the ice cream maker. The French Vanilla ice cream I made took what seemed like forever! The ice creamer maker has to be frozen for 15 hours. The batter has to chill for 8 hours and then after it's made the ice cream has to freeze for 2-4 hours. Whew, that is lots of freezing and chilling, but the reward is worth it.

Sandra...how great it is to read about how your patience paid off.

Honestly, I'm not too sure I'd have a place to have that container in my freezer.
For now, I think that I'll go with my tried and true technique.

Thanks for your opinion...always valued ;o)

Flavourful wishes,
Claudia
