Why are there recipes on an ideas Group page?
I love the conversations, comments and ideas I find in some of these groups, but cannot figure out why recipes are posted on a Group page like this or any other non-recipe Group page. Just wondering...

I've always wondered this too! I think perhaps people tend to just add their recipe to every group that they have joined, rather than just in the relevant ones.
There's been a conversation elsewhere in this group that there needs to be more moderation, which I agree with, though I guess it depends on how strongly the creator of a particular group feels about the recipes being uploaded to their group.
Perhaps CES could implement an 'approval' process where the group creator is sent a message when a new recipe is submitted for their group, where the creator can then decided whether it's suitable or not - it would probably be a massive job at first, as they would probably get loads of recipes through, before people perhaps then start to realise that they should only really submit recipes to relevant groups.

Good questions. Honestly...we thought most groups would be food focused and so posting recipes would make sense. With software, it's easier to develop one template rather than multiple templates, so we didn't create a separate template for non-recipe oriented groups. That said...it probably makes sense to create a separate template at some point. Thanks for the feedback Amos & Jenny!
Outstanding response, HJ. It appears that, as the site continues to grow, appropriate developmental modifications are incorporated into the programming. We are most fortunate that John is both a fine and creative cook and an outstanding developer! It is one of CES's strongest points, and one that sets CES above and beyond the other cooking sites - that it is so responsive to the input of all it's members. This, I believe, is what motivates many of us to continue to add to our efforts and participate in the conversations and exchange of ideas. More than a recipe site, this has elements of a forum and a blog - and it all works pretty darn well. Thank you John - and thank you Hungry Jenny! have a wonderful weekend! - Amos
