nuwave oven

hello! I just got my nuwave oven I ordered online. I haven't used it yet, but, as one person was saying,we need recipes we can adapt to the nuwave. I was wondering how to do pork chops frozen or thawed out. it doesn't mention that in the recipe book. like how long do we put them on for and what temperature? I see that some of the comments about doing the potatoes in the nuwave, aren't favourable. they say they aren't cooked enough, I was wondering if I should do the potatoes with the pork chops ? hope to hear from someone about this. by the way, I"m from nova scotia Canada and wish you all a good day! linda blair

Re: nuwave oven

Linda, welcome!
let's see......potatoes...depends on how you want to prepare them. Baked potatoes take about 45- 1 hour depending on size. I start them first and add meat part way through.

As far as pork chops or other meat, I use a lot of my own recipes. There is a temp/power level conversion chart in your recipe book. I use this as a guide. While learning to use it, try some of the recommended recipes first and practice with them to get the hang of using your oven. Just be sure to check on your food frequently at first while cooking. It will help you learn to tweak your times and temps to be able cook the way you like your food. One tip, if something seems to be browning too fast, just cover with foil to prevent this and remove toward the last few min to finish. Good luck! I'm sure you will learn to use and love your oven. We do!

Re: nuwave oven

I got my NuWave early 2009 and I have to say, it doesn't live up to the hype. I have tried several recipes and they always come out undercooked if I follow the instructions. for example, for frozen boneless chicken breast it ends up taking twice as long to cook. So now I have to sort of guess at how much longer it needs to cook and a lot of times I leave it in to long. Could it be that I have a faulty oven? Its been to long for me to return or replace it. I must say, I am really disappointed. I was really hoping this thing lived up to its 'reputation'.

64 year old male. So take me for what its worth. LOL:-) I agree with April. I to have to watch the oven while cooking. It dose not live up to what it is said to do. All so if you notice, the two people in the info. commercial never tell you that you have to turn the product over after half way of cooking. being that the heat swirls around and under the product your cooking you there fore don't even think about that when you watch the info. commercial. I have even come to measure my frozen burgers to make sure I'm not doing the wrong time. Funny but true. I still use it, if for not having to use the oven offten, and most of the time it seems to me like there is not much of a time saver using it. I'm sure nothing is wrong with my nuwave. I'm really not that surprised by what I said here. All products in an Info. commercial are sweetend up a little shall we say. Oh, more. Yeah, forget perfect Potatoes. I even put Omaha steak frozen stuffed potatoes in the nuwave several times and trying to tweak the time. Most of the time they come out not baked on the very bottom and the top ingredients are all ways to crunchy.

Re: nuwave oven

Geeze... If you all are having a problem with the Nu Wave.. It has to be something you are doing or not doing. I practically use the Nu Wave every day and Ive had it for quite a while now. I love the way it cooks. I take a large potato and make wedges and put it in the Nu Wave for 20 minutes and they come out brown and crispy on the outside and wonderful on the inside. My pork chops always comes out juicy. You got a chart with the Nu Wave.. It tells you 10 to 12 minutes each side, frozen. Always add a few minutes to that because it takes a few minutes for the Nu Wave to heat up. Ive put a frozen steak in the Nu Wave and its the best Ive ever tasted. You name it, Ive tried it in the Nu Wave. I dont use my oven any more and my kitchen stays cool.

Re: nuwave oven

So far I've never bothered trying any recipe, I just use the cook times and stand levels mentioned on the meat cooking chart and have yet to experience a failure!!! I'm amazed that I could take a frozen turkey breast from the freezer to cooked perfection!! THE most moist and flavorful turkey breast I've ever done in my many, many years of cooking! Most mornings I never know what I will want for dinner, so having the NuWave allows me to fix anything I want quickly and easily once I get home at night.

Re: nuwave oven

I've had my NuWave for about 2 years now and I LOVE IT! I've never had a failure yet. You have to be careful just as you do with any cooking in that you should test for degree of temperature that is healthy and safe. The best thing one can do is have a good thermometer in their reach. The chart is just a guide since each piece of meat, etc., will be different. Add small increments of time if it isn't to your liking. SMALL increment is the key here.

Re: nuwave oven

My Nu-Wave cooks meats deliciously moist and tender. I appreciate the convenience of cooking frozen meats and the easy equipment clean-up afterward. I rarely use my stovetop or oven to prepare meats, especially during these hot summer days. Generally, I find the Nu-Wave recipe book meat prep times adequate, though as with standard stovetop or oven cooking, needing adjustment based on the thickness and quantity of the cut. My sister introduced me to Nu-Wave cooking. She and her husband both like the Nu-Wave so much that they replaced their older model with a new, full-featured one.

Re: nuwave oven

All the people having trouble need to call Customer Service and see if they have faulty ovens. Mine didn't seem to do things in the time that they said it should cook and then whamo! One day it just wouldn't turn on. So I called and asked what to do. They said to give them the model number serial number (they are on the hood) and about 7 days after I called a new power head was here. They provided a pre-paid shipping label to return the original when the new one came so I just took the new one out of the box and slapped the shipping label on it and took it to UPS and the new one works wonderfully. It now gets hot like it should and I made boneless skinless chicken breasts by dipping them in egg and crumbs and air frying. It went to the exact time they said on the chart. And bread products, change the power level to 8 and they cook wonderfully. I don't need recipes in general, just do what I think will be good and it works. Potatoes do take about 45 minutes and they are wonderful. Someone is just complaining to complain. And you can cheat and cook a potato in the microwave and then split it in half and cover with cheese and put in the Nuwave. You can rely on your own creativity and common sense and come out looking like a Master Chef. We also bought the pizza kit and the extender ring and all is superb. Cheap pizzas look like works of art now. I do not know how the heck I ever made anything without it!

Re: nuwave oven

I think they might have gotten defective ovens (or control heads). The vast majority of us don't have the same problem. Sounds as if the control head is not heating up to what most of ours do. Sorry to hear you got a bum control head for your unit.
