Freezer burns

Although they aren't a danger to your health, they make foods taste bad. If you dont have a seal and saver that takes out the air, here a recommendation. When buying plastic freezer bags, wrap the meats in parchment paper and place in a bag that said freezer bag on it. Double freezer bag it. Yes using two bags and wrapped in parchment paper first, like you may remember your grand parents use to always wrap their meats between paper ( it came from the butchers like that) will help eliminate freezer burns. Also do it in smaller portions. One portion will freezer better than two. Especially a leftover casserole. Smaller portions are better. Sure it takes more bags but will taste much better in the long run. One last thing Never leave the meats in the original plastic and styrofoam, it picks up bad flavors and sure to get freezer burns quickly... Hope that helps..

Re: Freezer burns

Re: Freezer burns

Hi Claudia

Great tip, I never realised that it was bad to store meats that way in their original plastic, which I do all the time, eek! Luckily I only have a small freezer compartment so never usually leave things in there for too long anyway

Cheers
