  1. If you have a palate that appreciates a lesser degree of sweetness or possibly you're simply on a reduction diet, try this recipe the next time you make Jello. It makes a dessert which's cold on warm Summer nights, easy to prepare, economical (double the quantity), and 1/2 the calories of the normal preparation. It can be served as is, without the need for using artificial sweeteners. Stir in fruit cocktail for an extra twist (reduce water by 1/2 c.). Any flavor Jello will do.
  2. If you prefer more sweetness, add in your favorite low calorie sweetener, or possibly even a bit of honey or possibly granulated sugar, to taste. You may also dissolve the Knox Gelatine in fruit juice for added sweetness without resorting to using artificial sweeteners (just do not use pineapple juice or possibly it will not set!). Try creative combinations such as coconut juice with bananas!.
  3. Empty package of Jello into a medium bowl; pour in boiling water, stir, and allow to dissolve for 2-3 min.
  4. Meanwhile, dissolve the Knox Gelatin in a c. of warm water. Allow this to sit for several min, stirring till completely dissolved.
  5. Pour the dissolved Knox Gelatine into the bowl of Jello. Stir to combine.
  6. At this point, decide if you'll be adding fruit; if so, add in 1 c. fruit cocktail or possibly other fresh fruit; stir in 1 1/2 c. cool water. (With less water, you can also add in this to fancy molds).
  7. If you're not adding fruit and are just serving it plain, add in 2 c. water to the bowl of Jello and Knox Gelatine mix. Stir well.
  8. Cover and chill till the mix is "set" (about 4 hrs or possibly overnight). Serve as is or possibly with fruit or possibly whipped cream.
