%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EButternut%20Squash%20Ravioli%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20of%20my%20biggest%20pet%20peeves%20in%20searching%20for%20recipes%20on%20the%20website%20of%20a%20certain%20cable%20food%20network%20is%20if%20I%E2%80%99m%20feeling%20particularly%20ambitious%20and%20want%20to%20make,%20say,%20wild%20mushroom%20ravioli,%20I%E2%80%99ll%20click%20on%20the%20first%20result%20because%20it%E2%80%99s%20from%20a%20chef%20I%20might%20particularly%20like%20and/or%20trust%E2%80%A6and%20then%20I%20read%20the%20ingredient%20list.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EListed%20first:%20usually%20something%20along%20the%20lines%20of%20%E2%80%9C1%2010%20oz%20package%20frozen%20wild%20mushroom%20ravioli.%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E::facepalm::%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOK,%20I%20get%20it.%20Making%20ravioli%20from%20scratch%20is%20a%20time-consuming%20and%20laborious%20process,%20and%20we%20Americans%20are%20busy%20busy%20bees.%20Even%20Michael%20is%20hesitant%20to%20offer%20it%20unless%20we%E2%80%99re%20having%20a%20crew%20of%20people%20over%20to%20help%20with%20the%20process%20or%20we%20have%20an%20intriguing%20recipe%20to%20try%20our%20hands%20at.%20But%20the%20homemade%20stuff%20is%20just%20so%20good%20that%20the%20second%20you%20bite%20into%20that%20pasta%20pocket%20filled%20with%20savory%20delight,%20all%20of%20that%20hard%20work%E2%80%93the%20kneading%20of%20the%20dough,%20the%20rolling%20of%20the%20dough,%20hunching%20over%20tables%20to%20pipe%20in%20filling,%20sealing%20and%20cutting%20them%20and%20hoping%20they%20don%E2%80%99t%20stick%20together%20while%20also%20hoping%20they%20don%E2%80%99t%20burst%20open%20in%20the%20boiling%20water%E2%80%93all%20of%20it%20is%20repaid%20a%20thousandfold.%20And%20it%E2%80%99s%20for%20this%20reason%20I%20chose%20butternut%20squash%20ravioli%20as%20my%20birthday%20dinner%20a%20few%20months%20ago:%20it%20was%20a%20filling%20we%20had%20yet%20to%20try%20and%20after%20spending%20the%20weekend%20traveling%20in%20Pennsylvania%20I%20wanted%20something%20luxurious%20and%20decadent,%20even%20if%20it%20meant%20that%20I%20had%20to%20lend%20a%20helping%20hand%20in%20order%20to%20enjoy%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20while%20certain%20TV%20chefs%20will%20default%20to%20lower-common-denominator%20meal%20solutions%20to%20curry%20favor%20with%20the%20public,%20I%20have%20to%20love%20Emeril%20Lagasse%20for%20keeping%20it%20completley%20real%20during%20his%20tenure%20on%20Emeril%20Live!%20He%20unapologetically%20made%20complex%20dishes%20on%20a%20regular%20basis,%20and%20this%20butternut%20squash%20recipe%20was%20no%20different.%20First%20Michael%20roasted%20the%20squash%20with%20rosemary%20and%20thyme%20until%20it%20was%20soft%20(a%20process%20that%20took%20a%20little%20longer%20than%20prescribed),%20then%20it%20was%20pureed%20in%20a%20blender.%20Some%20heavy%20cream%20and%20more%20herbs%20(namely%20sage)%20is%20added%20to%20the%20mix%20and%20thickened,%20and%20then%20I%20attempted%20to%20put%20it%20into%20a%20freezer%20bag%20to%20pipe%20onto%20the%20pasta,%20but%20it%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20quite%20as%20smooth%20as%20maybe%20it%20could%20have%20been.%20We%20made%20it%20work%20in%20the%20end,%20of%20course,%20and%20when%20finished%20in%20more%20sage%20and%20brown%20butter,%20it%E2%80%99s%20seriously%20easy%20to%20forget%20that%20any%20strife%20was%20endured%20in%20the%20cooking%20process.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20likely%20why%20it%E2%80%99s%20taken%20me%20so%20long%20to%20write%20about%20the%20ordeal:%20it%E2%80%99s%20just%20that%20good.%20Our%20normal%20pasta%20recipe%20can%20be%20found%20here,%20while%20the%20ravioli%20filling%20recipe%20is%20here%20and%20the%20butternut%20squash%20puree%20recipe%20can%20be%20found%20here.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYes,%20it%20is%20a%20lot%20of%20work.%20Your%20patience,%20however,%20will%20be%20rewarded.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
