%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20realized%20for%20some%20time%20already%20that%20the%20reason%20why%20it%20is%20so%20hard%20to%20keep%20eating%20right%20is%20because...%20well,%20once%20hunger%20hits,%20I'm%20not%20ready%20to%20give%20it%20a%20good%20fight.%20If%20I%20could%20only%20have%20a%20way%20to%20whisk%20out%20something%20really%20tasty%20and%20filling%20in%20less%20than%2015%20minutes,%20I%20would%20be%20out%20of%20excuses...%20and%20that's%20just%20what%20I%20set%20myself%20to%20do.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20went%20out%20and%20bought%20lots%20of%20individually%20wrapped%20frozen%20fish%20fillet%20(salmon,%20tilapia,%20haddock...%20any%20as%20long%20as%20it's%20a%20100%25%20unprocessed%20fish%20without%20anything%20added%20to%20it).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20what%20I'm%20talking%20about%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20bought%20chicken%20steaks%20and%20breasts,%20wrapped%20each%20individually%20and%20froze%20them.%20Also,%20ground%20chicken%20and%20turkey%20meat,%20divided%20and%20shaped%20into%20individual%20portions%20of%20no%20more%20than%20150%20grams%20each%20(about%205%20ounces).%20I%20guess%20I'm%20pretty%20much%20covered,%20protein-wise.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20for%20vegetables,%20cooking%20time%20and%20shelf-life%20was%20a%20problem%20so%20I%20decided%20to%20look%20for%20frozen%20vegetables%20that%20could%20also%20be%20quickly%20prepared%20and%20had%20minimal%20cooking%20involved.%20The%20best%20choices%20where%20frozen%20spinach,%20specially%20those%20that%20already%20come%20shaped%20into%20nuggets%20for%20easy%20use,%20mixed%20cut%20vegetables%20are%20also%20very%20convenient.%20Basically,%20I%20look%20for%20anything%20that%20is%20small%20enough%20to%20be%20cooked%20in%20no%20more%20than%205%20minutes%20and%20also%20give%20a%20big%20plus%20to%20anything%20that%20doesn't%20require%20boiling.%20One%20of%20my%20best%20finds%20was%20dried%20wakame%20seaweed.%20All%20it%20needs%20is%20to%20be%20re-hydrated%20in%20some%20hot%20water%20and%20voila!%20Plus,%20it's%20incredibly%20healthy%20and%20rich%20in%20omega%203,%20doesn't%20spoil%20and%20is%20relatively%20inexpensive.%20I%20try%20to%20always%20keep%20cucumbers%20and%20tomatoes%20in%20the%20fridge,%20for%20a%20quick%20add-on%20to%20my%20meals.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20also%20got%20myself%20a%20digital%20scale%20to%20make%20sure%20I%20keep%20my%20carbs%20in%20check%20and%20a%20good%208%20inch%20non-stick%20pan%20that%20is%20just%20the%20right%20size%20to%20accommodate%20the%20meal%20I'm%20setting%20off%20to%20cook...%20and%20also%20pretty%20much%20eliminates%20the%20need%20for%20extra%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20for%20carbs,%20I'm%20not%20a%20zealot.%20I'm%20not%20sure%20that%20cutting%20them%20down%20completely%20is%20healthy,%20but%20it%20does%20make%20things%20very%20hard%20and%20I%20realized%20soon%20enough%20that%20avoiding%20them%20too%20much%20always%20made%20me%20feel%20more%20hungry,%20so%20I%20compensated%20by%20eating%20more%20protein%20and%20soon%20enough,%20my%20cholesterol%20levels%20started%20to%20go%20overboard%20and%20seriously...%20I%20need%20that%20little%20guilty%20pleasure,%20even%20though%20it's%20just%20at%20300%20g%20(10%20ounces)%20a%20day.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20this%20brings%20me%20back%20to%20the%20last%20post%20and%20that%20nifty%20little%20carb-less%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20whisked%20out%20a%20piece%20of%20salmon%20out%20of%20the%20freezer%20and%20let%20it%20slowly%20defrost%20(about%2015%20minutes%20outside),%20cut%20into%20nice%20bite-size%20pieces%20and%20set%20aside.%20I%20then%20rehydrated%20a%20handful%20on%20wakame%20seaweed%20in%20hot%20water%20for%205%20minutes,%20drained%20and%20lay%20them%20at%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%20bowl.%20Added%20the%20salmon,%20one%20chopped%20cucumber,%20green%20onion.%20That's%20pretty%20straight%20forward.%20What%20really%20made%20this%20dish%20a%20winner%20%20were%20%20the%20topping:%20japanese%20dry%20seasoning%20and%20a%20slightly%20spicy%20soy%20sauce%20my%20husband%20concocted.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dry%20seasoning%20was%20sent%20to%20me%20from%20Japan%20and%20as%20I'm%20quickly%20running%20out%20of%20it,%20I%20decided%20to%20try%20and%20reproduce%20it%20at%20home.%20So%20here's%20a%20close%20up...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E...and%20that's%20what's%20in%20it:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20everything%20well%20and%20keep%20in%20a%20airtight%20container,%20preferably%20in%20the%20fridge.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOk,%20on%20with%20the%20sauce!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20pretty%20easy%20too!%20Just%20mix%20about%201/4%20of%20a%20cup%20of%20soy%20sauce%20with%201/2%20teaspoon%20of%20sesame%20oil,%201%20teaspoon%20of%20mirin%20(japanese%20sweet%20wine)%20and%201/2%20teaspoon%20of%20Shichimi%20Togarashi,%20also%20called%20japanese%207%20spice.%20Let%20it%20sit%20for%20a%20few%20minutes%20before%20using,%20so%20you'll%20get%20the%20full%20taste%20of%20that%20amazing%20roasted%20orange%20peel!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20don't%20like%20spicy,%20you%20can%20freely%20skip%20the%20spicy%20stuff.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20just%20sprinkle%20your%20dry%20seasoning%20over%20the%20dish%20and%20add%20a%20couple%20of%20tablespoons%20of%20prepared%20soy%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere's%20a%20wonderfully%20light%20meal,%20perfect%20for%20the%20Summer%20and%20so%20easy%20to%20make,%20there's%20just%20no%20excuse%20to%20eat%20junk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHave%20a%20great%20week%20all!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
