Date night in New York and you are wondering where to go. An elegant restaurant with an irresistible menu and vibrant bar scene, impeccable drinks, and that certain New York energy we all love -- The Gramercy Tavern still rocks! I say that because its been nearly two decades since Danny Meyer first opened the restaurant and I still highly recommend it for a romantic meal for two.

Known for serving an exquisite seasonal menu with the freshest ingredients and truly creative, seductive recipes, the restaurant presents two dining experiences. The Tavern is in the front part of the restaurant alongside the bar and serves an a la carte menu in a more casual setting. The menu features dishes that emphasize their wood-burning grill and range from Roasted Sweetbreads, Pears, Kohlrabi and Walnuts, Malpeque Oysters, Iced or Roasted, Grilled Monkfish, Cauliflower, Raisins and Curry; and Ricotta Cavatelli, Chorizo, Tomatoes and Peppers.

A bit more formal, The Dining Room, which is in the back, offers pre-fixe dinners and tasting menus. Dishes include Beef Tartare, Pine Nuts, Capers and Pickled Mushrooms, Mushroom Custard, Sunchokes, Sea Urchin and Pickled Burdock,Pork Loin & Braised Shoulder, Tomatillo, Heirloom Beans and Pumpkin Seeds and Smoked Arctic Char, Squash, Kale and Carrot Sauce.

And of course you need to save room for dessert! Get ready for a sensational treat with the Plum Upside Down Cake with Spiced Crème Anglaise and Vanilla Bean Plum (YUM!). Or if you are a chocolate lover get two spoons and sink into the Bittersweet Chocolate, Banana, Caramel, Rum and Black Cardamom.
