It's all about comfort...

Winter is a time for comfort food. Food that is tasty, uncomplicated and satisfying. Comfort foods not only nourish our bodies, but they also bring pleasure to our souls. Here at Can I get the Recipe? one of our family's favourite comfort foods is cheese fondue.

When I make fondue for dinner in our home, I tend to pick foods that I know the kids will enjoy most to dip into the cheesy, delicious pot of yum that sits in front of us. Cubes of crusty bread, lightly steamed vegetables, raw celery, pieces of cooked sausage, cubed ham, apple slices...

We all gather around the fondue pot with metal skewers in hand then dive right in joyously. It's one of the meals we enjoy that is actually accompanied with silence, which in our house, is rare.

I have to admit, though, the one thing I don't like about making fondue is dealing with the flammable liquid needed to maintain the proper gooeyness of our cheese (or chocolate if we are indulging). Not only is it messy, but I also find there are times when the cheese ends up being burned at the bottom of the pot. Not fun when it comes to clean up. But then, I saw this...
