Alabama Biscuits

The recipe came out of a news paper some time ago. My family really love them.

Ingredientes

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3/4 cup warm milk

Direcciones

  1. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. Dissolve dry yeast in warm water. Add 1 tablespoon oil to warm milk, put other spoon full in flour mixture. Add all wet ingrediants to flour mixture.
  3. Mix well, either with dough hook or by hand. If by hand, knead 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Roll out dough on floured surface to about 1/4 " thickness. Cut with a small biscuit cutter. Dip in melted butter and stack one on the other. I use an 8x8 baking pan. Two pieces per stack. Proof for 1 hour in 100 degree oven, and bake for 12 minutes at 425 degree preheated oven. Be sure to use the sugar as the yeast needs it for food.
