This Shepherd’s Pie is a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! It is made with hamburger but you could use lamb or mutton. This is the way my family likes it.

Break hamburger into a large skillet and sprinkle the flour over it. Add the onion and celery and brown. Drain if needed. Sprinkle on thyme, basil, garlic, black pepper and salt. Add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and hot sauce along with corn and peas. Simmer about 15 or 20 minutes. Pour into a sprayed 9 x 13 casserole dish. Spread mashed potatoes over top. (Leftover potatoes spread better if heated some in the microwave if they have been refrigerated). Sprinkle on shredded cheese. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes until cheese is melted and casserole is bubbling. Makes 10 to 12 servings. Enjoy!
