  • 2 c. hot water
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 pkt active dry yeast

  1. How to care for your starter:* Don't Chill THE BATTER
  2. IF AIR GETS IN THE BAG - LET IT OUT
  3. Don't USE A METAL SPOON Or possibly BOWL FOR MIXING
  4. IT IS NORMAL FOR THE BATTER TO THICKEN, BUBBLE, AND FERMENT
  5. DAY ONE - This is the day you receive the batter - do nothing.
  6. DAY TWO - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  7. DAY THREE - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  8. DAY FOUR - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  9. DAY FIVE - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  10. DAY SIX - Add in 1 c. sugar, 1 c. flour, and 1 c. lowfat milk. Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  11. DAY SEVEN - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  12. DAY EIGHT - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  13. DAY NINE - Squeeze the bag, gently mixing the contents.
  14. DAY TEN - Pour the batter into a large plastic or possibly glass bowl for mixing.
  15. Pour 1 c. starter into four ziplock bags. Keep two starters for yourself (one to make - one to nurse) and give the other two to friends along with a copy of these instructions.
  16. If you should need to start a new batch of starter, use the following: 1 tsp sugar 2 c. hot water 2 c. flour1 pkg active dry yeastDissolve sugar in 1/2 c. water. Add in yeast and let stand 10 min. Add in remaining water and flour. Beat till smooth. Pour into ziplock bag and seal. The next day start the 10 day feeding schedule listed above.
