%20to%20go%20on%20our%20annual%20apple%20picking%20trip.%20Last%20year,%20we%20went%20to%20Round%20Hill%20Orchard%20in%20Southampton%20(check%20out%20that%20experience%20here).%20This%20year,%20we%20decided%20to%20try%20a%20different%20place%20and%20wound%20up%20at%20Dickinson%20Farm%20in%20Granby.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20farm%20is%20located%20right%20off%20Rt.%20202%20in%20Granby,%20but%20the%20apple%20barn%20itself%20is%20down%20a%20side%20road.%20I'd%20suggest%20doing%20what%20we%20did%20and%20going%20to%20the%20farm%20first%20to%20check%20out%20their%20pumpkins,%20mums%20and%20other%20goodies%20and%20get%20directions.%20This%20past%20weekend%20they%20were%20picking%20Cortland%20apples%20(you%20can%20call%20the%20apple%20barn%20at%20413-467-3715%20to%20find%20out%20what%20they're%20picking%20that%20particular%20day).%20They%20only%20offer%201%20size%20-%201/2%20a%20bushel%20bag%20for%20$20.%20That's%20a%20lot%20of%20apples%20when%20you're%20getting%20all%20one%20kind%20(about%2020%20lbs.),%20but%20Cortlands%20are%20very%20versatile,%20so%20we%20went%20for%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20trip%20starts%20with%20a%20tractor%20ride%20out%20to%20the%20trees.%20Once%20there,%20they%20tell%20you%20where%20the%20trees%20are%20that%20are%20harvesting%20and%20let%20you%20at%20it.%20The%20day%20we%20went,%20the%20trees%20were%20laden%20with%20fruit,%20so%20you%20didn't%20have%20to%20do%20much%20hunting%20to%20find%20the%20apples:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course,%20that%20didn't%20keep%20me%20from%20getting%20right%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20everything,%20as%20usual:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20a%20little%20disappointed%20that%20we%20didn't%20get%20the%20experience%20of%20hunting%20through%20the%20trees%20seeing%20what%20kinds%20of%20apples%20we%20could%20find,%20but%20the%20views%20made%20up%20for%20it:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETonight%20I%20made%20a%20batch%20of%20applesauce%20and%20this%20weekend%20I%20have%20plans%20for%20an%20apple%20cake%20-%20stay%20tuned!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
