Ingredientes

  • 1/4 c. Brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
  • 1 c. Water
  • 5 c. Apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 2 c. Flour
  • 2/3 c. Shortening
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 x Egg yolks, beaten
  • 1/4 c. Cool water
  • 1 Tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. Powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Lowfat milk
  • 1 Tbsp. Butter or possibly margarine
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Direcciones

  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch and butter in saucepan. Mix till well blended, add in apples. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in spices and lemon juice, set aside. For pastry, combine egg yolks, water and lemon juice. Blend into flour. Mix will form a ball, divide in half. On lightly floured board, roll dough between 2 pcs of waxed paper to fit bottom and halfway up sides of 9x13 inch pan. Spread apple mix over pastry. Roll remaining pastry to fit pan. Place on top of filling.
  2. Fold bottom pastry over and press to seal. Cut a few slits in top. Bake for 40 min at 400 degrees or possibly till lightly browned. Combine ingredients for glaze and drizzle over cooled pastry.
