Apple Upside Down Cake

Ingredientes

  • 1 stk butter or possibly margarine
  • 3 c. sugar (I use 1/2 c. less)
  • 3/4 c. minced blanched almonds, or possibly walnuts, or possibly pecans
  • 1 Tbsp. grnd cinnamon
  • 4 med -size baking apples, pared and thinly sliced
  • 2 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 3 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Direcciones

  1. Heat butter in 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan in oven while pre-heating; remove.
  2. Combine 1 c. of sugar, minced nuts and cinnamon in small bowl. Sprinkle proportionately over melted butter. Arrange apple slices, overlapping slightly.
  3. Sift flour, remaining sugar, baking pwdr and salt into large bowl. Add in shortening, lowfat milk, Large eggs and vanilla. Beat at low speed, till combined, then at high speed for 2 min. Pour proportionately over apples.
  4. Bake at 350 F (160 C) for 1 hour and 10 min, or possibly till top springs back when lightly pressed with fingertip.
  5. Cold in pan on wire rack for 5 min. Loosen around edges with a knife.
  6. Cover with a large serving tray or possibly cookie sheet. Turn. Lift off pan.
