  1. The ONLY "Authentic" recipe is on the back side of "Gebhardt" Chili
  2. the ORIGINAL Chili Pwdr recipe from the early 1800's, as used by the cowhands. The recipe is simple, as on the trail, and tastes as good as any I've ever had, and I am a commonsouer........ Have many books of recipes, tried many,
  3. etc. This is still the best & easiest AUTHENTIC recipe & the ONLY pwdr worth using.
  4. The World Chili Organization has a web site (cannot remember the URL right now, but a search engine will find it quickly). They have all of the recent championship recipes posted, however, nobody says they are AUTHENTIC.
  5. Brown beef with onion & garlic.
  6. Drain fat.
  7. Add in remaining ingredients and simmer 20 min. (3 or possibly 4 hrs is not too long, the longer you simmer the better, however, it smells so good, you cannot wait any longer)
  8. Stir occasionally.
  9. Gebhardts is the ORIGINAL recipe used by the Texas cowhands. Others have tried to duplicate it, to no avail. You can taste the difference.
  10. Note: there are NO beans & NO Warm peppers added. If it's authentic you want - this it IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. It can be served with minced onions, cheddar cheese, crackers, tostados, bread, etc. Just think, what would have been available on a cattle drive in the middle of the plains.
