%20so%20their%20dad%20and%20I%20can%20once%20again%20watch%20things%20rated%20M%20for%20Mature%20without%20looking%20like%20zombies%20the%20next%20day.%20(Oh%20well...)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20in%20all%20of%20this%20drama,%20dinner%20has%20gone%20a%20bit%20by%20the%20wayside,%20and%20this%20blog%20has%20gone%20a%20LOT%20by%20the%20wayside,%20although%20I%20am%20still%20cooking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20instance,%20on%20Sunday%20I%20made%20spaghetti%20with%20meat%20sauce.%20Went%20to%20Whole%20Foods%20where%20they%20were%20having%20a%20special%20on%20grass%20fed%20beef,%20bought%20less%20than%20a%20pound%20(because%20I%20didn't%20have%20an%20entire%20gold%20ingot%20at%20the%20time)%20and%20then%20was%20at%20a%20loss%20for%20how%20to%20plump%20it%20all%20up%20so%20the%20kids%20and%20the%20husband%20would%20feel%20like%20they'd%20got%20their%20dinner's%20worth.%20Also,%20I%20was%20feeling%20a%20bit%20spacey%20when%20I%20got%20to%20Whole%20Foods%20and%20bought%20just%20the%20meat%20and%20some%20fruit,%20forgetting%20that%20I%20needed%20canned%20tomatoes%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20got%20home,%20and%20started%20browning%20the%20meat%20(in%20about%201/8%20cup%20of%20olive%20oil,%20and%20dashed%20with%20some%20kosher%20salt),%20I%20realized%20that%20last%20week%20I'd%20bought%20some%20beets%20intending%20to%20roast%20them,%20but%20of%20course%20had%20ordered%20bacon%20and%20pineapple%20pizza%20that%20night%20instead,%20so%20I%20julienned%20the%20beets%20and%20tossed%20them%20in%20another%20pan%20with%20some%20sliced%20onion,%20a%20couple%20garlic%20cloves,%20some%20left%20over%20julienned%20kale%20(it's%20september%20so%20I'm%20using%20SAT%20words)%20some%20minced%20celery%20and%20a%20sliced%20carrot.%20Because%20I%20forgot%20the%20canned%20toms,%20I%20threw%20in%20what%20was%20left%20of%20a%20pint%20of%20cherry%20tomatoes,%20a%20dash%20of%20red%20wine,%20and%201/4%20of%20a%20bottle%20of%20Rao's%20Marinara%20that%20had%20been%20sitting%20on%20the%20door%20of%20the%20fridge%20and%20which%20wasn't%20moldy%20yet.%20I%20combined%20the%20browned%20meat%20with%20the%20vegetable%20sauce%20and%20seasoned%20everything%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESmith%20boiled%20up%20all%20the%201/4%20boxes%20of%20pasta%20I%20had%20lying%20about%20the%20pantry%20and%20we%20tossed%20it%20with%20the%20sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20really%20good.%20Everyone%20liked%20it,%20and%20no%20one%20noticed%20the%20beets,%20until%20the%20leftover%20sauce%20turned%20the%20leftover%20pasta%20a%20really%20scary%20color.%20But%20that%20wasn't%20until%20lunch%20the%20next%20day,%20and%20by%20then%20everyone%20was%20long%20gone%20in%20school%20or%20at%20work.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20sorry%20I%20don't%20have%20a%20picture%20--%20I%20keep%20forgetting%20to%20charge%20up%20the%20camera%20battery%20from%20when%20we%20went%20on%20vacation.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'll%20get%20there.%20And%20things%20will%20calm%20down.%20I'm%20sure%20of%20it.%20And%20if%20they%20don't,%20well%20then%20my%20next%20post%20may%20be%20on%20the%20medicinal%20and%20recreational%20importance%20of%20the%20perfect%20Manhattan.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
