Bread is my weakness and when it’s filled with bacon & cheddar I lose all control. This pull apart loaf is like no other, it’s pure crack. Thank you Pinterest, you got me this time. How can I describe this to you? You are all familiar with garlic cheesy bread right? Well, this right here is garlic cheesy bread on steroids. Loaded with lots of cheddar, minced garlic and bacon crumbles its a whole new level of delicious. Kurt and I have sourdough shipped once a month from Boudin Bakery in San Francisco. It’s one of the most exciting shipments we receive next to the box of wines from the Vermeil Winery. My freezer has a few loaves saved up since I’ve been trying to stay away from bread. It looks like it will be used up a lot faster as my better halves now want this once a week. There are a few techniques to making pull apart bread. In this recipe I cut the bread on a diagonal to create diamond shaped pieces. It’s important not to cut all the way through and keep the bottom intact. Stuff generously with garlic, cheese and bacon bits. You can also slice the loaf the traditional way into 1 inch thick slices once again not cutting all the way through and leaving the bottom intact. It should look like an accordion. Both methods are fabulous. Bacon Cheddar Pull Apart Bread

- 1 loaf sourdough bread ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese 4 slices of bacon, cut into thin strips 4 garlic cloves, finely minced olive oil Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a small skillet cook bacon strips until golden brown. Using a slotted spoon transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain excess fat. Once cooled gently combine with shredded cheese. Using a bread knife cut the loaf on a diagonal in one direction and then repeating in the other direction creating 2 inch diamond shaped cuts. Do not cut all the way through. The bottom should stay intact. (You can also slice the bread into traditional 1 inch slices once again leaving the bottom intact. The loaf should resemble an accordion.) Drizzle with olive oil. Stuff each piece with garlic, lots of cheddar and bacon. Spread the remaining cheddar bacon over the top. Wrap in aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake another 10 minutes. 3.3.3077
