Receta Bacon-Gorgonzola Balls...
by Nan Slaughter

The mister told me that his business partner at Global Headquarters is planning a big trip across the country...he's going to drive from one end to the other and everywhere in between. The mister said, "He's got the money and can just pick up and go because he's not weighed down with anything like me." Weighed down with anything? Just what did the mister mean by that, I asked myself...and then I asked him..."So, you'd rather have George's bank account than a wife, kids and a house? Is that what you meant?"

You would probably expect the mister to say, "Of course not!" As any sane, rational married man who wants to stay married would say...but this is the mister we're talking about, the world's only living heart donor, who thinks a party of one is an exclusive and impressive club, so what he said was, "Yeah, I'd take his bank account and get rid of a few things!" Get rid of a few things?!?!?!

You know what they say? Give the man a shovel and he'll dig himself straight to Tiffany's! ...Get rid of a few things...I'm thinking something sparkly...something gold...with matching earrings...diamonds just say I'm sorry, don't you agree?

And speaking of being sorry...I'm sorry I didn't give you this recipe the minute I tried these...I've sat on it for a week now...trying to decide if you could handle the truth...because the truth will set you free...free to make and eat Bacon-Gorgonzola Balls non-stop so by the time the jolly old Elf himself rolls down the chimney the two of you will have matching belly's! Bacon and Gorgonzola go together like egg and nog, like plum and pudding, like me and diamonds on Christmas morning...try these...try these soon...make them for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or New Year's Eve or New Year's Day or all of the above...think of them as my Christmas Gift to You!

In a medium bowl, using a hand-mixer, combine cream cheese, Gorgonzola cheese, green onion, Worcestershire sauce and black pepper, mixing until well combined. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour or overnight, until firm. (Cook, drain and crumble bacon while cheese is in the refrigerator. I put the bacon into a small Zip-lock bag and smash with my hands, the smaller the pieces the better.) When firm, roll cheese into 3/4-inch round balls. Roll each ball in the crumbled bacon. Serve immediately or cover and chill until ready to serve. These are great on their own or you can serve them along side slices of apples or pears. One of the best appetizers ever! Makes about 3 dozen.
