Receta Baked Spiced Salmon
I am enjoying the perfect weather we are having this month of September. It is sunny and warm during the daytime ((without being oppressive) and cool enough to sleep at night without having to turn the air conditioner on. The lovely days of September inspire me to turn the oven on and begin baking again not just for cakes or other sweet treats but certainly for savory recipes, too.
One of our favorite healthy dinner options is baked salmon. Usually, I don't make much fuss about it I just use some lemon, garlic and butter to flavor it. Sometimes for the sake of variety, I also add some Asian flavoring to the mix using soy sauce, ginger and sesame oil. This time, I experimented with a spice rub which I concocted and thought may work well with the fish. We wanted to have a baked salmon with a little spice to it - not too much heat but just a little zing for extra flavor.
For the wet rub I used some curry powder, turmeric, paprika and freshly ground pepper mixed with a little olive oil. And to add some tang, I also squeezed some fresh lemon juice on top. The result is a very moist and flavorful salmon that looks so vibrant and appetizing. Serve with some green vegetables and rice or quinoa on the side for a delicious and very healthy meal. Hope you like it!

Flavored with spices and fresh lemon juice, this baked salmon comes out moist and very delicious. Gluten-free, low-carb and so good for you!
Ingredients
- 3-4 small Salmon fillets
- 1 teaspoon Curry powder
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black Pepper
- 3 teaspoons Olive oil (and a little extra for greasing the baking dish)
- Freshly squeezed Lemon juice, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 F.
Clean the salmon and dry then and place in a greased baking dish. Mix the spices with the olive oil in a small bowl. Brush or rub the salmon with the spice mix. Generously squeeze some lemon juice on each fillet.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes depending on the thickness of the salmon. It is cooked when the skin looks opaque and the skin flakes easily when poked.
Once you take the salmon out of the oven, immediately season the fish with salt to taste. Serve with some green vegetables and rice or cooked quinoa on the side.
The salmon may also be broiled for about 10-12 minutes and 5 1/2 inches away from the heating element, if that method is preferred.
