Receta Banana Split Twinkie Cake {Twinkies are Back}
Pin It
The Iconic Twinkie is back!!!! And not just Twinkies folks, but by popular demand all Hostess products are making a comeback. On July 15th Walmart rolled out the first batch of the new Twinkies. A few boxes have been seen as early as July 12th in an exclusive collectible box that says "First Batch" on the packaging.
This yummy creme-filled, sponge cakes have been a household tradition since 1930 and after a brief hiatus this delicious treat is back in stores. Some people are happy about this and some could care less. I for one love the occasional Twinkie, Suzy Q & Zinger, so this is good news for me.
In honor of the celebration and "The Sweetest Comeback in History" Walmart has asked me to share a recipe using a Hostess product. I chose Twinkies, so today's recipe is a quick and easy one. I do realize some folks will turn their nose up to this recipe, but that's OK. Different strokes for different folks, right?
I've seen Twinkie Cakes all over the Internet and that's what came to mind when I was deciding on a recipe. Instead of just a plain old Twinkie cake I changed it up a bit and used Strawberry Creme pudding and added some banana's to make a Banana Split Twinkie Cake.
I love the strawberry creme pudding, so it turned out delicious. A Twinkie cake is the perfect treat if you're ever in a pinch and need a quick dessert. It's very kid friendly and everyone loved it. I've included some step by step photos, but this recipe is pretty straight forward and impossible to mess up.
I purchased everything I needed at my local Walmart. The Twinkies at my Walmart were sold out, but I did manage to find them at a local Walmart Neighborhood Market.
To start line a 8 x 8 inch baking pan with 9 Twinkies. Line the pan with 5 Twinkies on one side and the remaining 4 on the other side (see photo above). In a large bowl, mix together the packages of pudding with cold milk until combined (I used a wire whisk). Fold in 1/2 cup whipped topping and blend.
Spread the strawberry pudding mixture evenly over the Twinkies to cover. Add banana slices and spread crushed pineapple over bananas. Top with remaining whipped topping and spread evenly.
Add maraschino cherries and nuts for garnish. Drain and dry the cherries on a paper towel to remove juices before adding. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Enjoy!!!!!!
