Ingredientes

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pound grnd beef
  • 2 med. onions, minced
  • 2 (16 ounce.) cans RED BEANS, "CHILI-Warm" BEANS Or possibly 2 lbs. dry pintos
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 (16 ounce.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 green pepper, minced (if you like)
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. black pepper
  • 1 to 2 teaspoon chili pwdr
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cumin

Direcciones

  1. If using dry beans, prepare and soak overnight. Brown hamburger and onion in frying pan. Drain. In Dutch oven, combine meat-onion mix, beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, green peppers (if used) and seasonings. Simmer on low to medium heat 2 to 3 hrs, stirring occasionally. Take care not to let the chili stick. Taste test occasionally and add in water if needed to obtain desired consistency.
  2. SPECIAL NOTE: If using "chili-warm" beans, start with only 1 Tbsp. of chili pwdr to avoid getting the chili too "hot." A little more can be added while cooking according to taste if it is not "warm" sufficient at first.
