%20tin%20of%20mushroom%20soup%20that%E2%80%99s%20been%20lurking%20in%20the%20cupboard%20but%20being%20on%20a%20lazy%20day%20off%20from%20work,%20and%20told%20myself%20that%20if%20I%E2%80%99m%20gonna%20make%20the%20bread,%20I%20might%20as%20well%20do%20the%20soup%20too!%20I%20made%20a%20small%20batch%20of%20broccoli%20soup,%20by%20frying%20off%20a%20little%20diced%20onion,%20then%20adding%20the%20stalks%20for%205%20minutes%20and%20some%20veggie%20stock,%20added%20the%20chopped%20up%20florets%20and%20simmered%20until%20soft.%20Then%20simply%20stirred%20through%20the%20last%20of%20a%20jar%20of%20pesto,%20roughly%202%20scant%20teaspoons.%20Together%20with%20the%20bannocks%20it%20made%20a%20great%20combination,%20as%20I%20had%20also%20added%20basil%20oil%20to%20the%20bannock%20mixture%20which%20was%20subtle%20enough%20not%20to%20over%20power.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20bannocks%20are%20super%20quick%20to%20make%20%E2%80%93%20less%20than%20a%20minute%20to%20make%20and%20a%20couple%20in%20the%20pan%20to%20cook.%20These%20are%20fragile%20beasts%20and%20at%20several%20points%20found%20myself%20questioning%20the%20recipes%20success%20but%20I%20persisted%20%E2%80%93%20and%20they%20came%20up%20a%20treat!%20They%20are%20oaty,%20and%20wholesome%20tasting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20original%20recpipe%20it%20makes%20two,%20but%20I%20scaled%20down%20as%20was%20only%20me%20eating%20and%20don't%20think%20these%20would%20re-heat%20that%20well..%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20a%20heavy-based%20frying%20pan%20on%20a%20medium%20heat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20together%20the%20oatmeal,%20salt%20and%20baking%20powder%20In%20a%20bowl,%20add%20the%20basil%20oil,%20then%20enough%20water%20to%20make%20a%20stiff%20paste.%20This%20is%20the%20fun%20part!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESprinkle%20a%20little%20more%20oatmeal%20on%20a%20suitable%20board,%20tip%20the%20mixture%20on%20to%20it.%20Sprinkle%20a%20bit%20more%20oatmeal%20over%20and%20flatten%20to%20a%20just%20under%20a%20centimetre,%20working%20quickly%20before%20it%20cools.%20Cut%20it%20into%20quarters.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20a%20little%20fat/oil%20to%20the%20hot%20pan,%20and%20cook%20the%20bannock%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes%20on%20each%20side,%20until%20browning%20lightly.%20Serve%20hot%20with%20a%20little%20butter%20on%20if%20desired.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
