Beef Asado Japanese Style Advertisements Beef asado is actually a dish with Spanish influence and the word asado is derived from the Spanish word which means “barbecue”. But I’m sure how asado dishes became like an adobo dish in Filipino cuisines. The dish I have here is a variant of the traditional Filipino beef asado with Japanese style of cooking. This dish has similarity with beef teriyaki where the beef is coated with cornstarch then stir fried. The only difference is, in cooking beef asado, it should be added with a little water and simmer until tender.
To cook beef asado Japanese style; Coat meat strips with cornstarch. Brown garlic in butter and add meat and onions. Stir fry for 5 minutes. Season with soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and MSG. Add water and stir. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes then add bell pepper. Cook for another 3 minutes then serve hot.
