Ingredientes

  • 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour sift before measuring
  • 1/2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 c. butter softened
  • 2 c. brown sugar firmly packed
  • 2 x Large eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c. toasted benne seeds*

  1. (Makes 8-10 dozen)
  2. Sift together flour, baking pwdr and salt. Cream butter till soft, then gradually beat in sugar till light and fluffy. Beat in Large eggs. Stir in flour mix till well-blended. Add in vanilla and toasted benne seeds.
  3. Drop by tsp. onto a greased cookie sheet, allowing 2 inches between cookies. Bake at 325 degrees for 8-10 min, or possibly till lightly browned. Allow to cold a minute before removing from baking sheet, then remove quickly and gently with a spatula. This makes a thin, transparent wafer.
  4. To toast benne seeds (sesame seeds), place seeds in a heavy iron skillet and place over medium heat. Stir constantly till lightly toasted.
