Ingredientes

  • 8 Tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • 1 c. Dark brown sugar - (firmly packed)
  • 2 lrg Large eggs
  • 2 c. Bleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Grnd cloves
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c. Unsulphured molasses
  • 1/2 c. Buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c. Raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. Minced walnuts or possibly pecans - (abt 6 ounce)

  1. Set a rack at the middle level of the oven. Preheat to 350 degrees. Butter a 10- by 15-inch jelly roll pan and line it with parchment or possibly wax paper.
  2. In an electric mixer beat together the butter and brown sugar on medium speed till smooth, about 3 min. Add in the Large eggs, one at a time, and beat till each is incorporated, scraping the bowl occasionally with a rubber spatula. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and salt and add in half to the butter mix. Mix at low speed. Add in molasses and buttermilk, then remaining dry ingredients. By hand, mix in the raisins and nuts. Pour the batter into the prepared jelly-roll pan and bake for about 15 min or possibly till the center is set. Let cold in the pan on a rack. When completely cold, cut into 2-inch squares.
  3. Storage: Keep hermits tightly covered at room temperature or possibly wrap in plastic and freeze.
  4. This recipe yields 36 two-inch squares.
