Pasture raised shredded beef, meaty portabello mushrooms, onions and blue cheese  are wrapped in a wholewheat crust to make a Big Blue Cheese stromboli – THE perfect choice for game day! In celebration, I’ve joined a group of food bloggers from all over the country whom are big football fans! Last month we shared our favorite tailgating recipes and now we are sharing our football team spirit inspired recipes. Football food makes me think of finger food, and one of my favorite finger foods is stromboli. It’s like a baked sandwich, and you can fill it with just about anything you can think of.  I decided on cheese steak this time, it’s  a hearty finger food for game day.  I added some meaty portabello mushrooms and cut back on the meat to keep it hearty and healthy.   If you aren’t a fan of blue cheese, mozzarella works well too. steak, meaty portabello mushrooms, onions and blue cheese are wrapped in a wholewheat crust to… Click To Tweet     Big Blue Cheese Steak Stromboli   Save Print Prep time Cook time Total time   Author: Anne Ingredients 2 tablespoons oil divided 3 portobello mushroom caps sliced thin 1 medium onion sliced thin ¾ pound thin sliced sirloin steak 1 clove garlic ½ cup blue cheese crumbles or shredded mozzarella cheese or both! 1 wholewheat pizza dough Instructions heat1 tablespoon in a skillet over medium heat, once hot add the onions and saute until they begin to soften and start to turn golden - about 5 to 8 minutes add the mushrooms and garlic and cook until mushrooms become soft about 10 miinutes remove vegetables from heat add remaining oil to pan and the meat - cook the meat until it's cooked through.
