Black Labrador Shepherds Pie

Ingredientes

  • 2 lb grnd chuck
  • 2/3 c. minced yellow onion
  • 1/2 c. minced celery
  • 2 x cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 lb potatoes, peeled
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 x carrots, sliced
  • 2 ounce (about 2 1/2 Tbsp.) beef base
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Direcciones

  1. Saute/fry` beef, onion, celery and garlic in a large pan till well done. Strain off fat. Boil potatoes till fork tender, about 20 min. Drain and mash with butter. Blanch carrots and add in to beef mix. Make a gravy with beef base and water. Whisk in sufficient flour to thicken, about 2 Tbsp.. When gravy comes to a boil, add in beef and carrot mix, reduce heat and simmer for 5 min.
  2. Spoon meat mix into a 2-qt casserole. Spoon potatoes on top. Bake for 20 min at 350 degrees. Top with cheese and let sit till cheese melts from the radiated heat. about 5 min.
  3. Serves 6 to 8.
