Book Cake...for a Graduation party....again!! ;-)

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECake%20flavor,%20design%20and%20theme%20was%20left%20for%20me%20to%20decide,only%20requirement%20being%20a%20quarter%20sheet%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EObviously%20theme%20would%20be%20Graduation,%20and%20I%20have%20seen%20these%20lovely%20book%20shaped%20cakes%20on%20several%20online%20websites,%20and%20I%20thought%20that%20it%20should%20be%20a%20cool%20idea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20took%20most%20of%20the%20tips%20for%20making%20the%20book%20shape%20from%20here.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20requested%20my%20friend%20to%20provide%20me%20the%20names%20of%20two%20of%20his%20favorite%20subjects%20so%20that%20I%20could%20name%20the%20cake%20books%20with%20those.%20Which%20was%20Software%20Management%20and%20Database%20Designing%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAgain%20I%20went%20for%20my%20favorite%20cake%20flavor%20,%20Red%20velvet%20cake%20with%20Cream%20cheese%20frosting%20(I%20used%20the%20same%20recipe%20as%20my%20cupcakes)%20and%20decorated%20the%20cake%20in%20Homemade%20marshmallow%20fondant%20(recipe%20here)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20baked%20a%20Quarter%20Sheet%20Cake%20(9x13)%20and%20cut%20it%20in%20half,%20each%20half%20forming%20the%20two%20books,%20torted%20them%20and%20filled%20cream%20cheese%20frosting%20and%20covered%20each%20cake%20half%20in%20different%20colored%20fondant%20to%20represent%20two%20books.%20I%20used%20a%20red%20velvet%20cupcake%20(store%20bought)%20and%20covered%20it%20with%20melted%20chocolate%20and%20topped%20it%20with%204%20pieces%20of%20Lindt%20chocolate%20bar%20and%20made%20the%20graduation%20hat%20.%20The%20Scroll%20on%20top%20of%20the%20book%20is%20made%20using%20fondant.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20time%20decorating%20the%20cake%20was%20quite%20diffcult%20,%20as%20the%20climate%20was%20pretty%20Humid%20and%20the%20Cream%20Cheese%20frosting%20kept%20melting%20and%20the%20Red%20Velvet%20cake%20was%20super%20moist%20(yummmm!),%20%20though%20I%20had%20kept%20the%20cake%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20for%20about%20an%20hour%20each%20before%20and%20after%20frosting%20and%20then%20covering%20with%20fondant.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20caused%20the%20books%20to%20sort%20of%20have%20a%20droopy%20look,%20%20but%20then%20everyone%20at%20the%20party%20thought%20that%20that%20was%20my%20idea%20of%20showing%20that%20these%20two%20being%20his%20favorite%20subjects%20,%20were%20the%20books%20most%20used,%20and%20hence%20the%20used-book%20like%20appearance...How%20cool%20huh!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways,%20%20the%20Red%20Velvet%20cake%20was%20a%20big%20hit.%20Even%20I%20loved%20the%20taste%20(I%20usually%20never%20compliment%20my%20food)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E;-)%20Can't%20I%20comment%20on%20my%20own%20cakes!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAgain%20sharing%20a%20few%20snaps%20before%20and%20after%20the%20cake%20was%20cut%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell%20all%20in%20all%20this%20years%20Graduation%20has%20helped%20me%20graduate%20to%20a%20new%20level%20of%20Cake%20Baking%20and%20Decoration,%20and%20I%20want%20to%20thank%20all%20my%20friends%20who%20trusted%20me%20with%20their%20special%20occasions%20by%20asking%20me%20to%20bake%20for%20them%20and%20I%20hope%20I%20did%20justice%20to%20your%20events!!%20;-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20I%20want%20to%20add%20a%20sweet%20Thank%20You%20to%20my%20cousin%20bro%20Nandu%20Mohan,%20who%20unknowingly%20helped%20me%20complete%20this%20cake.%20Well,%20as%20I%20mentioned%20above%20the%20cake%20wasn't%20forming%20as%20I%20had%20hoped%20it%20would%20due%20to%20humidity,%20I%20was%20almost%20on%20the%20verge%20of%20giving%20up%20making%20the%20cake.%20That's%20when%20my%20cousin%20bro%20(who%20stays%20in%20India)%20came%20online%20on%20facebook%20chat,%20and%20while%20he%20typed,%20I%20would%20go%20and%20roll%20out%20my%20fondant%20and%20then%20I%20typed%20my%20reply,%20and%20again%20while%20he%20typed%20,%20I%20made%20the%20scroll%20etc...He%20had%20no%20idea%20I%20was%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20decorating%20this%20cake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20in%20a%20way%20his%20distraction%20sort%20of%20helped%20me%20clear%20my%20mind%20,%20get%20more%20ideas%20and%20go%20ahead%20with%20making%20this%20cake!%20Family%20is%20always%20your%20best%20backbone%20and%20you%20never%20know%20how%20they%20can%20help!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20thank%20you%20dear%20Nandu.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20Adios%20Amigos...stay%20tuned%20until%20next%20time...!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E-Manju%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
