%20in%20an%20attempt%20to%20make%20up%20for%20years%20of%20sleep%20deprivation.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDid%20I%20just%20gush%20over%20a%20pair%20of%20grey%20curtains?%20Yes!%20LOL!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20did%20read%20two%20more%20books%20from%20the%20NPR%20book%20list%20and%20enjoyed%20them%20both:%20Eleanor%20&%20Park%20by%20Rainbow%20Rowell%20and%20The%20Morning%20Gift%20by%20Eva%20Ibbotson.%20And%20with%20that%20I'm%20totally%20done%20with%20romance%20novels%20for%20the%20next%20decade%20or%20so.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERight%20now,%20I%20am%20reading%20I%20Am%20Malala:%20The%20Girl%20Who%20Stood%20Up%20for%20Education%20and%20Was%20Shot%20by%20the%20Taliban%20by%20Malala%20Yousafzai%20and%20Christina%20Lamb%20as%20part%20of%20the%20read-along%20for%20Nonfiction%20November.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20did%20watch%20some%20good%20movies%20on%20Netflix.%20My%20favorite%20has%20to%20be%20Queen,%20a%202014%20Hindi%20comedy-drama.%20A%20young%20woman%20from%20Delhi%20is%20shattered%20when%20her%20fiance%20calls%20off%20their%20wedding%20at%20the%20last%20minute,%20but%20decides%20to%20go%20on%20her%20European%20honeymoon%20on%20her%20own.%20This%20is%20such%20a%20sweet,%20funny%20and%20heart-warming%20movie.%20I'm%20not%20saying%20it%20is%20perfect-%20it%20could%20easily%20have%20been%20a%20good%2045%20shorter%20for%20one%20thing-%20but%20there's%20something%20about%20this%20movie%20that%20I%20really%20adored.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20good%20one%20was%20Philomena,%20a%20more%20serious%20drama%20starring%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20actors,%20Judi%20Dench.%20She%20was%20nominated%20for%20an%20Oscar%20for%20this%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday's%20Special%20is%20a%20sweet%20little%20foodie%20movie.%20I%20loved%20the%20cast%20of%20this%20movie%20more%20than%20the%20actual%20storyline.%20So%20many%20beloved%20actors%20here.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EV%20and%20I%20did%20something%20that%20does%20not%20happen%20often%20for%20us-%20we%20went%20to%20an%20actual%20movie%20theater%20to%20see%20a%20new%20release,%20while%20our%20friends%20watched%20Lila.%20It%20was%20The%20Martian%20and%20we%20enjoyed%20it.%20Although%20the%20last%20movie%20we%20saw%20in%20the%20theater%20was%20Interstellar,%20which%20also%20featured%20Matt%20Damon%20stranded%20on%20a%20lonely%20planet.%20Deja%20vu?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20far%20as%20TV%20goes,%20I've%20been%20watching%20some%20episodes%20of%20Aziz%20Ansari's%20Master%20of%20None%20and%20also%20some%20old%20episodes%20of%2030%20Rock,%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20sitcoms.%20Tina%20Fey%20is%20brilliant.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday's%20recipe%20came%20about%20serendipitously%20but%20the%20results%20were%20particularly%20enjoyable%20so%20I'm%20recording%20it%20here.%20I%20was%20making%20a%20simple%20masoor%20dal%20(pink/red%20lentils),%20and%20noticed%20that%20there%20was%20some%20mashed%20sweet%20potato%20in%20the%20fridge%20that%20needed%20to%20be%20eaten%20soon.%20On%20a%20whim,%20I%20added%20it%20to%20the%20dal%20and%20the%20result%20was%20creamy,%20comforting%20and%20perfect%20for%20the%20season.%20It%20is%20always%20nice%20to%20try%20small%20variations%20on%20everyday%20dals,%20and%20I%20hope%20you%20enjoy%20this%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESweet%20Potato%20Dal%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Soak%201%20cup%20masoor%20dal%20for%20a%20few%20hours,%20and%20rinse%20throughly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20In%20the%20body%20of%20a%20pressure%20cooker,%20heat%201%20tbsp%20oil.%20Temper%20with%201%20tsp.%20mustard%20seeds,%201%20tsp.%20cumin%20seeds,%20a%20few%20curry%20leaves,%20a%20sprinkle%20of%20asafetida.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Add%201%20small%20minced%20onion%20and%20fry%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes.%20Season%20with%20salt%20to%20taste,%201%20tsp.%20ginger%20paste,%201/2%20tsp.%20ground%20turmeric%20and%201-2%20tsp.%20of%20your%20favorite%20masala.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Add%20the%20soaked%20masoor%20dal%20and%201%20cup%20cooked,%20mashed%20sweet%20potato.%20Or%20if%20you%20don't%20have%20leftover%20sweet%20potato,%20then%20add%20small%20diced%20raw%20sweet%20potato.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Add%20about%203%20cups%20water%20(or%20more%20or%20less%20depending%20on%20the%20consistency%20you%20like)%20and%20pressure%20cook.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Stir%20the%20creamy%20dal,%20drizzle%20with%20lemon%20juice,%20chopped%20cilantro%20and%20ghee%20and%20serve%20warm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20have%20you%20been%20cooking,%20reading,%20watching?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
