.%20%20I%20found%20a%20few,%20and%20picked%20the%20best%20elements%20of%20each%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20my%20own%20puff%20pastry,%20but%20I%20am%20not%20going%20to%20include%20that%20recipe%20in%20this%20post.%20%20Instead,%20I%E2%80%99ll%20urge%20you%20to%20buy%20a%20puff%20pastry%20from%20the%20freezer%20section%20of%20your%20local%20grocery%20store.%20%20Why,%20you%20ask?%20%20Because%20this%20Danish%20is%20so%20good,%20but%20took%20waaaay%20too%20long%20to%20put%20together.%20%20If%20you%E2%80%99re%20hoping%20to%20make%20this%20for%20a%20brunch%20or%20even%20dessert,%20take%20it%20easy%20on%20yourself%20and%20just%20buy%20a%20package%20of%20puff%20pastry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20blueberry%20compote%20was%20clearly%20the%20shining%20star%20of%20this%20cheese%20Danish.%20%20I%20mean,%20the%20cream%20cheese/lemon%20zest/sugar%20mixture%20was%20lovely,%20but%20nothing%20says%20summer%20like%20juicy%20and%20delicious%20blueberries.%20%20Luckily,%20I%20have%20some%20left%20to%20spoon%20over%20vanilla%20ice%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%E2%80%99re%20so%20inclined,%20I%E2%80%99m%20sure%20you%20could%20add%20some%20fresh%20herbs%20like%20thyme,%20rosemary,%20or%20even%20mint%20or%20basil%20when%20you%E2%80%99re%20cooking%20your%20compote.%20%20As%20you%20all%20know,%20I%20love%20adding%20fresh%20herbs%20to%20desserts,%20so%20give%20it%20a%20try!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20Danish%20can%20be%20served%20warm%20or%20at%20room%20temperature,%20and%20goes%20great%20with%20a%20cup%20of%20coffee.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBraided%20Blueberry%20Cheese%20Danish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20%20400%C2%BAF.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20pastry%20from%20package%20and%20allow%20to%20thaw%20on%20well-floured%20parchment%20paper%20while%20you%20prepare%20filling%20(about%2030%20minutes).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20bowl,%20combine%20cream%20cheese,%20lemon%20zest,%20sugar,%20and%20salt.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20saucepan,%20combine%20blueberries%20with%20sugar%20and%20lemon%20juice.%20%20Set%20over%20medium-high%20heat%20and%20stir%20mixture%20until%20it%20begins%20to%20bubble.%20%20Keep%20an%20eye%20on%20it%20to%20make%20sure%20sugar%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20burn.%20%20When%20mixture%20begins%20to%20heat%20up,%20mash%20about%20half%20of%20the%20blueberries.%20%20Bring%20to%20a%20boil.%20%20As%20soon%20as%20it%20boils,%20turn%20down%20heat%20to%20medium%20and%20add%20cornstarch/water%20mixture.%20%20Stir%20until%20mixture%20thickens%20(think%20jam%20consistency).%20%20Remove%20from%20heat%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20before%20using.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20pastry%20is%20thawed,%20lay%20side%20by%20side%20and%20press%20edges%20together%20to%20form%20a%20rectangle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20cream%20cheese%20mixture%20in%20the%20center%20third%20of%20pastry.%20%20Top%20with%20blueberry%20mixture%20(you%E2%80%99ll%20probably%20have%20some%20filling%20leftover,%20which%20is%20good!).%20%20Using%20a%20pizza%20cutter%20or%20knife,%20cut%20the%20outer%20thirds%20of%20the%20pastry%20into%203/4-inch%20strips%20and%20a%20slight%20diagonal.%20%20Alternating%20sides,%20fold%20the%20strips%20over%20the%20filling.%20%20Press%20to%20seal.%20%20Brush%20with%20egg%20wash%20mixture%20and%20sprinkle%20a%20little%20sugar%20over%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETransfer%20pastry%20(on%20parchment%20paper)%20to%20baking%20sheet%20and%20place%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%20at%20least%2020%20minutes.%20%20Then%20bake%20for%2010%20minutes,%20then%20rotate%20the%20pan%20and%20lower%20the%20oven%20temperature%20to%20375%C2%BAF%20and%20bake%20for%20another%2020-25%20minutes,%20or%20until%20golden%20brown.%20%20Transfer%20to%20a%20wire%20rack%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20use%20the%20leftover%20blueberry%20filling%20as%20a%20topper%20for%20vanilla%20ice%20cream,%20in%20smoothies,%20or%20even%20on%20waffles%20or%20pancakes.%20%20Delicious!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
