Bread Pudding

This is a very custardy bread pudding. It was the favorite of my husband. He got the recipe from a friend's mother, and brought it with him when we got married!

Ingredientes

  • 1 quart milk
  • 4 tsp. cornstarch
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 bread slices, buttered and diced
  • cinnamon to sprinkle on top

Direcciones

  1. Heat milk in a pan and dissolve the cornstarch into it.
  2. Mix egg yolks and sugar, and add slowly to milk.
  3. Bring to a boil, and take off heat. Add vanilla.
  4. Beat the egg white stiff, and set aside.
  5. Put the bread cubes in an oven safe dish and pour milk mixture over them.
  6. Top with the egg whites and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  7. Put under the broiler for just a moment to brown the top (be careful not to burn).
  8. Cool and serve.
  9. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
