%20and%20fighting%20to%20stay%20alive%20in%20the%20face%20of%20killer%20whale%20attacks.%20%20These%20are%20the%20dreams%20that%20Seth's%20subconscious%20produces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20so%20eager%20to%20eat%20up%20these%20dreams%20and%20absorb%20them%20into%20my%20memory.%20%20Perhaps%20I%20hope%20my%20own%20subconscious%20mind%20will%20start%20to%20produce%20similar%20results%20through%20osmosis.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMine,%20are%20well,%20mundane.%20%20At%20best.%20%20If%20I%20can%20even%20remember%20them.%20%20Which%20is%20a%20seldom%20occurrence%20in%20life.%20%20The%20ones%20I%20usually%20remember%20are%20those%20anxiety-ridden%20ones,%20the%20ones%20where%20you%20are%20late%20and%20despite%20your%20best%20attempts%20to%20get%20to%20where%20you%20are%20going,%20you%20are%20stymied%20every%20step%20of%20the%20way.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20I%20dreamed%20of%20a%20loaf%20of%20bread.%20%20That's%20it.%20%20It%20was%20the%20Platonic%20ideal%20of%20a%20loaf,%20just%20floating%20in%20front%20of%20a%20black%20background.%20%20No%20events%20actually%20happened.%20%20Just%20a%20floating%20loaf.%20%20I%20strangely%20didn't%20even%20eat%20the%20bread,%20a%20surprising%20thing%20for%20me%20to%20do%20since%20I%20have%20a%20deep%20and%20abiding%20love%20for%20the%20stuff.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeth's%20dreamscape%20couldn't%20be%20more%20different%20from%20mine.%20%20Our%20quesadilla%20preferences%20suffer%20from%20similar%20discrepancies.%20%20But%20this%20disparity%20runs%20the%20other%20direction%20-%20mine%20are%20the%20more%20epic%20quesadillas.%20%20I%20started%20adding%20a%20mango%20and%20black%20bean%20spread%20to%20add%20some%20extra%20levels%20of%20flavor.%20%20Our%20usual%20quesadilla%20involves%20broccoli%20and%20jalapeno%20with%20scallion,%20cilantro%20and%20cheese.%20%20I%20wanted%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20offered%20the%20quesadilla%20with%20%22more,%22%20Seth%20determined%20that%20he%20still%20wanted%20his%20usual%20and%20not%20the%20%22fancypants.%22%20%20I%20long%20for%20more%20in%20my%20dreams.%20%20Seth%20apparently%20does%20not%20feel%20the%20same%20about%20his%20quesadilla.%20%20Somehow,%20we%20make%20it%20work.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20spice%20mix:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20all%20the%20spices%20together%20in%20a%20small%20bowl.%20%20Keep%20leftovers%20in%20an%20airtight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20mango%20black%20bean%20spread:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20all%20the%20ingredients,%20including%20the%20spice%20mix,%20in%20a%20medium%20pot%20over%20medium-low%20heat.%20%20Let%20everything%20cook%20together,%20and%20after%20about%20ten%20minutes,%20take%20off%20heat.%20%20Use%20an%20immersion%20blender%20to%20puree.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20quesadillas:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETake%20the%20flour%20tortilla%20and%20put%20spread%20the%20mango%20and%20black%20bean%20mixture%20on%20half%20of%20the%20tortilla.%20%20Then%20layer%20the%20jalapeno%20slices,%20broccoli%20florets,%20scallions,%20cilantro,%20and%20cheeses%20on%20top%20of%20the%20spread.%20%20Or%20if%20you%20are%20being%20Seth,%20then%20just%20skip%20the%20mango%20black%20bean%20mixture%20part.%20%20Once%20all%20your%20ingredients%20are%20in,%20fold%20the%20tortilla.%20%20Heat%20canola%20oil%20(about%20a%20tablespoon)%20in%20a%20cast%20iron%20skillet.%20%20Place%20the%20quesadilla%20in.%20%20Once%20a%20side%20has%20a%20nice%20golden%20brown%20color,%20flip%20it%20over.%20%20Once%20both%20sides%20are%20golden%20brown,%20take%20off%20heat%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
