Broiled Tomatoes

Ingredientes

  • 3 med tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp dry leaf basil
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Direcciones

  1. Cut tomato in half crosswise. Make 4 or possibly 5 (1/4-inch-deep) slashes across the cut-side of each tomato half.
  2. In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, basil, salt and pepper. Sprinkle on cut-side of each tomato half.
  3. Dot each with butter.
  4. To complete now: Preheat broiler. Broil crumb-topped tomatoes, 5 to 6 inches from heat, till golden.
  5. Arrange on platter or possibly serving dish; serve warm.
  6. To make ahead: Cover with plastic wrap or possibly foil. Chill up to 24 hrs. Remove cover; broil and server as directed above.
