,%20I%20snagged%20it,%20knowing%20there%20would%20be%20something%20there%20for%20everyone.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20I%20love%20about%20dining%20in%20New%20York%20in%20general%20is%20that%20meals%20revolve%20around%20your%20own%20personal%20schedule.%20A%20few%20years%20ago%20we%20went%20to%20a%20game%20restaurant%20outside%20Colorado%20Springs.%20We%20made%20a%208pm%20reservation%20(not%20the%20latest%20available)%20and%20were%20practically%20pushed%20out%20of%20the%20restaurant%20as%20we%20finished%20up%20around%209:30pm.%20Literally,%20they%20turned%20the%20lights%20out%20at%20the%20restaurant%20after%20we%20walked%20out.%208pm%20is%20a%20standard%20dinner%20time%20for%20me,%20and%20while%20I%20understand%20some%20places%20prefer%20earlier%20meals,%20don%E2%80%99t%20allow%20later%20reservations%20if%20you%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20serve%20people.%20When%20we%20walked%20into%20Craftbar,%20the%20restaurant%20was%20as%20animated%20as%20it%20might%20have%20been%20around%207pm.%20A%20late%20dinner%20was%20nothing%20out%20of%20the%20ordinary%20and%20even%20taking%20our%20time,%20finishing%20up%20well%20after%20midnight,%20our%20party%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20the%20only%20one%20to%20close%20the%20restaurant.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EImage%20courtesy%20of%20Follow%20the%20Chef%20NYC%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20ambiance%20at%20Craftbar%20is%20not%20quite%20as%20rustic%20and%20homey%20as%20Craft%20itself.%20It%20feels%20more%20modern%20and%20trendy.%20But%20close%20your%20eyes%20as%20your%20savor%20your%20first%20bite%20and%20I%20guarantee%20you%20won%E2%80%99t%20notice%20the%20difference.%20Dinner%20for%20me%20started%20with%20a%20Pecorino%20Fonduta.%20I%20had%20no%20idea%20what%20I%20was%20getting%20into%20but%20found%20the%20word%20%E2%80%9Cfondue%E2%80%9D%20staring%20back%20at%20me.%20If%20it%E2%80%99s%20cheesy,%20I%E2%80%99m%20in%20love.%20The%20Fonduta%20was%20accented%20by%20warm%20honey%20and%20toasted%20pine%20nuts.%20It%20was%20my%20very%20own%20personal%20fondue.%20So%20good,%20that%20I%20had%20difficulty%20sharing%20when%20my%20other%20friends%20jealously%20looked%20on.%20I%20shared%20(a%20bite)%20with%20my%20husband,%20of%20course,%20because%20I%20think%20it%E2%80%99s%20actually%20mandated%20somewhere%20in%20the%20marriage%20vows.%20The%20accompanying%20crostini%20was%20crisp%20but%20a%20few%20pieces%20too%20little.%20While%20additional%20crostini%20eventually%20made%20its%20way%20to%20the%20table,%20I%20was%20just%20as%20content%20to%20use%20my%20spoon%20and%20savor%20the%20last%20bits%20like%20a%20rich%20cheesy%20soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPecorino%20Fonduta%20%E2%80%93%20Acacia%20Honey,%20Pepperoncini,%20Pine%20Nuts,%20Crostini%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext%20came%20the%20scallops.%20Deeply%20caramelized%20and%20perfectly%20seared.%20They%20were%20served%20on%20a%20bed%20of%20earthy%20mushrooms%20and%20a%20tart%20red%20cabbage%20chutney.%20Generally%20cabbage%20is%20one%20of%20my%20least%20favorite%20vegetables,%20but%20the%20way%20this%20was%20seasoned,%20I%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20get%20enough.%20The%20balance%20of%20cabbage,%20spice%20and%20acid%20was%20just%20perfect.%20I%E2%80%99m%20always%20one%20for%20dessert,%20but%20that%20night%20I%20had%20no%20desire.%20Not%20that%20the%20dessert%20menu%20didn%E2%80%99t%20look%20fantastic,%20or%20that%20I%20was%20too%20full.%20My%20savory%20meal%20was%20so%20perfect,%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20want%20anything%20to%20take%20away%20from%20it.%20For%20my%20next%20meal%20I%20fully%20plan%20on%20indulging,%20but%20this%20time%20a%20two%20course%20meal%20was%20perfectly%20satisfying.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPerfect%20seared%20scallops%20over%20a%20bed%20of%20red%20cabbage%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECraftbar,%20like%20many%20of%20my%20favorite%20restaurants%20focuses%20on%20high%20quality%20seasonal%20ingredients.%20Even%20looking%20at%20the%20menu%20today,%20it%20varies%20from%20what%20sat%20in%20front%20of%20me%20just%20a%20few%20weeks%20before,%20with%20the%20exception%20of%20some%20classic%20standards.%20My%20foodie%20friends%20might%20have%20been%20jealous%20of%20my%20Pecorino%20Fonduta,%20but%20it%20was%20me%20that%20enviously%20looked%20on%20as%20my%20friend%20devoured%20every%20bite%20of%20her%20Buttermilk%20Fried%20Young%20Chicken.%20Maybe%20next%20time%20I%20should%20consider%20sharing%20more%20often.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
