Receta Bulgolgi {Korean} Marinade for Meat & Chicken
by CookingLib

Where would we be without marianades? Think about it. Marinades can seriously turn a piece of steak or chicken breast into a tasty meal.

This recipe for bulgolgi marinade has been in my family's recipe file for ages it seems. Even though we are not of Korean decent, my mother somehow tracked this recipe down and has used it many times. When Husband Man and I were dating, she would make this for him from time to time. He loved it so much that when we married, he asked her for the recipe.

One might ask what exactly is bulgolgi? It's a Korean dish made up of thin beef slices that are soaked in a marinade of sugar, soy sauce, and onions, then grilled to perfection.

The cool thing about this dish is that you don't have to stick with just steak. Chicken and ribs can also be used with it as well. It's also super simple to make. Just combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed. Then, place in a gallon sized plastic bag along with the meat of your choice. Let it sit in the fridge for 4-8 hours before grilling.

Can it get any easier then that?? I don't think so my friends ;)

Add a little ethnic flare to your dinner menu this week and put these down! I promise you will not be disappointed!

We made these with our family's recipe for homemade macaroni and cheese (as pictured above). However, you can also serve this with fried rice, red rice, or a baked potato. Fresh green beans or a nice tossed salad would also work well. For dessert, make our family's recipe for latiya (a cinnamon custard treat with angel food cake as it's base).

Directions:

1. In a medium sized bowl, mix the sugar, peppercorn, chopped onion, soy sauce, minced garlic, and olive oil. Mix until well combined.

2. In a gallon sized zip lock bag, place the mixture inside, along with the meat of your choice.

3. Place bag on a baking sheet and let it sit in the fridge for 4-8 hours. Turn the bag over every 4 hours to make sure the marinade covers all the meat.

4. Discard the bag with the used marinade and grill the meat to your liking.
